I know the accepted fact is he dead and his skeleton is on display.
But i read somewhere(cant remeber where) that he is still alive and kicking but disguised as an arbite inorder to attend to the throne when no ones looking.(i cant remeber the last part dont know if i made that up or not.) and that there are rumors of his sightings.

-to many points to bother to count.

"Sigh" Now where the heck did I put my Index Astartes books? Every time you need them, they are hiding under Obfuscate 5+. Anyway... Out of memory, Dorn lead the vanguard of a boarding party and got separated. The Imperial Fist relief force found the remains of Dorn after the fight was over. The hand that is held in stasis is presumably all that remains of him in any recognizable form.

They must have had a good memory, because a hand isn't too recognisable if you ask me.

thats from bolter and chainsword rise of the tau where he is hiding as arbiter in the Emperors company

I wish my lawn was emo...
Then it would cut itself.

In the end, SoB are uppity female canines who enjoy their faith in the emperor so much, I'd say they themselves are no longer truly human. They've given up normal life in exchange to become bolter-bitches.

He died.. His hand was likely identifyable becasue he old enough to followed the old fluff about scrimshawing his own bones.. So his bones probably said Dorn is the Best..

Somehow, I doubt he's gonna stay dead.

I got to admit, I kinda liked the idea that a primarch died fighting overwhelming tided of traitors rather than in some vanity duel, but new fluff is new.

Next thing we know, the Emperor's Mega Psychic Annihilation Bolt is totally survivable, and the Talon of Horus barely scratched Sanguinius' make up, and all the primarchs are happily drinking in a pub, thinking about 'the good ol' days'

Q: How many Space Marines does it take to screw in a light bulb?
A: None. The Emperor IS MY LIGHT!!!

If it's Lastie's work, I already know about it

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if that ends up being canon, though. That's got to have the best reason why Loken's still alive, tbh.

Index Astartes II says that his skeletal hand was recovered. The book Space Marine says they found the whole body, but that book is as far from canon as is possible. It's a joke.
I don't remember if IA2 said anything about his body.

Maybe their spirits in the warp proved powerful enough to influence a small patch of it between them (it's stated in fluff that someone powerful enough can shape a small bit of warp, though that might be in WFB). So now they hang out with their dad's psykic presence near the Astronomicon, watch over their ex-legions, and face palm a lot. Drinking probably isn't involved unless Russ got himself killed and joined in. Reminiscing and plotting against chaos probably is.

the problem with fluff is that it's all imagination.

the real problem is it's not cross referenced.

I think most will agree with me when they say it needs to be better referenced (some fluff says they found his hand some his entire body. thats an example.)

GW's stance on fluff is that 'history is written by the victors' so all of the fluff you read will be skewed depending on what book and what writer you are reading.

This is why a lot of fluff contradicts itself, and they [GW] can retcon without worry, because its all myth really.

THE HORUS HERESY: Emprah: Hours, go reconquer the galaxy so there can be a new golden age. Horus: But I should be Emprah, bawwwwww! Emprah: Magnus, stop it with the sorcery. Magnus: But I know what's best, bawwwwww! Emprah: Horus, tell Russ to bring Magnus to me because I said so. Horus: Emprah wants you to kill Magnus because he said so. Russ: Fine. Emprah's always right. Plus Ole Red has already been denounced as a traitor and I never liked him anyway. Russ: You're about to die, cyclops! Magnus: O noes! Tzeentch, I choose you! Bawwwww! Russ: Ah well. Now to go kill Horus. Russ: Rowboat, how have you not been doing anything? Guilliman: . . . I've been writing a book. Russ: Sigh. Let's go. Guilliman: And I fought the Word Bearers! Horus: Oh shi--Spess Puppies a'comin? Abbadon: And the Ultramarines, sir. Horus: Who? Anyway, this looks bad. *enter Sanguinis* What are you doing here? Come to join me? Sanguinius: *throws self on Horus's power claws* Alas, I am undone! When you play Castlevania, remember me! *enter Emprah* Emprah: Horus! So my favorite son killed my favorite daughter! Horus: What about the Lion? Emprah: Never liked her. Horus: No one does. Now prepare to die! *mortally wounds Emprah*Emprah: Au contraire, you dick. *kills Horus* Dorn: Okay, now I just plug this into this and . . . okay, it works! Emprah? Hellooooo? Jonson: I did nothing! Guilliman: I did more nothing that you! Jonson: Nuh-uh. I was the most worthless! Guilliman: Have you read my book? Dorn: No one likes that book. Khan: C'mon guys. It's not that bad. Dorn: I guess not. Russ: You all suck. Ima go bring the Emprah back to life.

but to be perfectly honest, the idea of the fluff is to add flavour to your games, to give them back story

and to give geeks somthing to talk about without talking about D6 and Damage tables and how strong their supahblasta is.

Well, he IS a Primarch.
Also, you doubt the Emperor? Why, with enough faith he should be abl to play with 0 hands.

Maybe the Fists figured it was Dorn's hand since it was 1,5 times as big as a regular space marine hand... judging from the artwork.

I think that the fluff contardicting itself sometimes gives it that epic history feel. You know history sometimes has a way of scewing to what people want to believe I mean events that happen millenia's ago have a good chance of getting change through the years. Plus over such a wide spread empire its like a godly version of telephone. The whole part of Dorn being alive can't just be thrown out the window either it's more or less a legend because of that small blank in where the rest of Dorn is if just the hand part is true.
