I love to play WH40k and all that jazz but when theres nobody to play or its a slow day on dakka, nothing beats online games like Eve Online.

But the fun of eve runs dry when you're at war with other corporations and don't have the numbers needed to fight back

If there is anyone that would be interested in helping spread the love of Dakka on Eve with me and my corp mates just reply so i know theres interest. I'm pretty sure if all of use pooled together we could start something wonderful

Chec

P.S. i read over the rules and i hope this isn't breaking any of them, truly sorry if it is :S

A sci-fi MMO where you fly spacecraft and run an economy. Corporations (think guilds) go to war over resources and such in the game.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

Do you have to pay, because it sounds interesting.

I believe it's standard pay ($15 a month). Apparently it's also a game that rewards you for not playing it, which turns me off of it.

You do have to pay $15 dollars a month, but i can give you a 30-day pass to see if you like it, if you don't theres no strings attached. As for being rewarded for not playing it, thats a very poor way to explain the skill-training system.

You advance skill wise by putting time into training skills, whilst they are training you can go and do anything else you want you are not stuck doing that one thing. For example if you need to advance in manufacture skills you don't advance by buying a ton of minerals and components and spamming building you dedicate a certain amount of time to the manufacture skill and whilst that is happening you can again do as you please.

My corporation is a sort of gun for hire corp, we play the game by being given contracts to take out other corporations but inbetween these wars we mine and manufacture our own ammunition and ships.

I really love the game and i was thinking that if we get even a fraction of Dakka playing then we could get a really massive and powerful corporation going!

My friend really likes the game. I doubt I'd be able to do much with my computer/internet connection, though.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

Sorry, I'd rather enlist with Goon Swarm, they have the right idea on how to play that game.

I was interested in playing this when it came out, but I am loath to sign up to any game that I need to pay to play.

Plus I find many space games do not focus on what I want to do in a space game (sit there and mine stuff all day and then build factories and such until I have an empire of factories and cargo ships, then build myself a giant capital ship and sit in it laughing ).

I hear that they are doing a 360 version which will interface with the PC version, but it will mostly be focused on the space combat, which is a shame for me.

Seems like it's pretty good, but it's just not the game for me. I prefer games like World of Warcraft, where you're a hero trying to get stronger to eventually save the world (From a role-playing standpoint). Either that or the hilarity of Champions Online, which has an awesome character creator.

Weren't they just violently forced from their own territory because one of their leaders forgot to pay the gas bill? :p

I'm on Eve-online aswell, allthough i think we will have trouble with the different timezones. I like it a lot, only have been playing for about a month.

At least Eve offers a challenge compared to other mmo's and a requirement to use your brain. this ofc is my opinion. ymmv

I'm personally waiting for the avatar expansion, so I can play a Morn like character who sits eternally at the end of a bar listening to everyones problems.

Seriously though, it looks pretty good, but the 'learning curve' pic did kinda put me off.. didn't fancy being one of the little hanging guys half way up the cliff.

GoonSwarm were indeed kicked out for not paying the gas bill :S

And regarding the chap who says all he wants to do is mine, build factories and then build a mammoth capital ship for himself to sit in... you can actually do that.

Its all fun times in eve!

Im actually in EU time-zone, my profile says I'm American which I most certainly am not!

If you wanna contact me in game after starting up just shoot me an evemail, my name is Chec Eu or join my corp's public chat channel in game "PDCA Pub"

Haha, i hope you do Silver =] Shoot me a PM when you decide to and ill give you a 1 month of time =] My corp does a myriad of things and mining is one. Hopefully if we get enough dakites on it we could move to an alliance system and be the new goonswarm... except not a bunch of ass holes

Hypothetically, if we did join would we all have to go the same faction*?. As I am really funny about looks. this game has interested me for a while but being almost broke cannot aford it yet.

It would be awsome to get a massive Dakka corperation running though.

We wouldn't all have to all be in the same faction at all. And i'll be giving you a 30 day trial so you can try it and see if its your thing.

A Dakka corporation would be great though =] and is the plan.

I currently have everything we need to start a massive corp. Freighter pilots for Logistics, Mining capital ships for industry and also a Mobile Starbase Tower to anchor where needed =]

It must be downloaded/installed on your computer.
It does indeed sound and look like a interesting game but having not spare money and generally not wanting to pay every month for MMORPGs (1½ years of WoW does that...) I won't play it any time soon. But maybe, someday...
