Ok, so i've got this DEATHWATCH force taking shape and a sudden thought hit me.

What if a Marine from a Chapter of the Second Founding onwards, had his Chapter go Renegade.........Would the Inquisition take no risk and execute him? Even if he had nothing to do with this.

I'm thinking of fielding an Astral Claw in my Force. A sort of last man seeking Redemption and trying to put his Chapters Actions past behind him and prove his might.

Others Could be from this list :-

oh and i did say second founding before any trying to be clever points out the Inquisition didn't exist until after the Horus Heresy!

Your Thoughts, as ever, are appreciated.

I think its quite a good idea. I don't know about how fluffy it is however it could be justified by saying:

During a crusade a Company of Astral Claws became skilled at hunting Orks (or some other alien species). It was not long before they became famous for their hunting abilities. When a large Waaaagh was splintered by the death of the warbos they were the obvious choice to contribute to the battle. As the Astral Claws were already stretched thin defending the maelstrom they could only commit a handful of squads. These marines were sent on a mission to hunt down the small pockets of Orks and exterminate them. Due to the size of the Waaagh and the limited supplies that the marines had this took a very long period of time. As they were nearing the completion of their mission they heard the news of the Astral Claws betrayal. At first they didn't believe it but the information was confirmed by the Inquisitor sent to Capture and interogate the remaining marines to determine if they were loyal to the chapter or the imperium. Horrified by what their chapter had they done they immediatly pledged their services to the imperium over their own chapter. Prefering not to send them against their own brothers for fear of them being corrupted they decided to send the remaining marines to join the Deathwatch. Here their loyalty could easily be monitered and they unique skills be put to use.

This is just an example that it's very easy to get around any fluff bariers. I am sure you could come up with something better but this is just to show a point.

I hope you decide to do it and I maybe you should even consider making a squad of them.

Marines are sometimes too valauble to be executed so you can field them.

Go for it.

The fluff actually has half a chapter going rogue and sometimes the other half will turn said renegades in to not only save their name and chapter, but to do what is right. If this Astral Claw had nothing to do with his chapter's renegade ways, but still felt guilty, I'm sure it could happen. Not likely, but possible.

Hmmm...Do i believe the words of one of the Blessed of Lorgar? I think the idea i put forward does have some real mileage especially if i go for something like the last Space Wolf of the 13th Company left behind whilst on duty with DEATHWATCH, a true Lone wolf....

It would make my Army really diverse and interesting.

Only problem I see with that is the Inquisition was non-existant during the time of the 13th Company still being in the Chapter, and the fact that the 13th company was absolutely thrown into the warp, down to the man. Not much of an acception...

Although, there was a way in the Space Wolf series where they opened a rift to realspace. So it is possible one jumped through to realspace as a test, was left abandoned when the jump failed to reverse, and now is left alone in real space since his chapter is so stupid that they sent him to Deathwatch.
