So we I was a teenager, almost every geek book I bought contained adverts for Vinyl Model kits.

From Star Wars to Hellraiser, Rocketeer to Guyver, they seemed to be everywhere. But now, I don't tend to see them. What the hell happened Dakka?

Too many people think only of their own profit. But business opportunity seldom knocks on the door of self-centered people. No customer ever goes to a store merely to please the storekeeper.

The land of cotton.

I think "Resin casting" happened to them. For the same investment you can get a sharply defined and structurally sound resin kit or a soft, wavy and hollow vinyl kit.

RIP Vinyl. Long live the resin kit.

Thanks for the linkage. Have to pick some of them up! Especially the Guyver ones.

They definitely still exist, but resin casting has struck a serious blow against them.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

I actually bought and Alien 3 dogburster vinyl kit not a week ago. My local model shop (as opposed to my local FLGS or GW) stocks plenty of vinyl alongside their trains and planes.
