You can do whatever you want as long as you are not mixing say BT with BA. In other words you cant mix codices. Last PLEASE check the rest of the sections of the forum as this does NOT belong in th intro section as this is the fourth time you have posted in here.

As long as it's not codices go for it. You can paint them anyway you want and have BA with DA, SW, BT and Ultras,, as long as it's not book wise it's fine. Go rainbow marine army

What ho! Codex Space Marines actually states you have HQs from different Chapters but you need to declare which one is dominant for the purpose of Chapter Tactics.
