Okay, I had started Space Wolves but now want to do Space Marines. So anyhoo, I've been struggling to decide on a chapter name for my own chapter.

Possible chapter names:
Imperator Erectus = Emperor’s Pride (Latin)
Shrouded Company
Imperial Knights
Dark Paladins
Emperor’s Creed
Legion of Tempests

Chapter Master or Captain: Validus Telum (Latin for Mighty Sword.)

Color scheme ideas:

Black armor with gold details (pauldrons rims, kneecaps, etc.)
Black armor with silver details
Black armor with white pauldrons
Black armor (completely black)
Dark blue with dark grey details
Or just go Crimson Fists
Or just go Raven Guard

Let me know what you think, also any new ideas are appreciated

I could not keep reading without sniggering and imagining a captain screaming "I am Mighty Sword of the Imperator Erectus!"

I think that "Shrouded Company" sounds a bit Chaos-y, but is also damn awesome.

I should have thought to add a poll...I'll see if I can edit my post and add one.

I suppose If I decided to go with that, I could have a background where they've gone to chaos and back to the Emperor, and have walked a narrow line since. Though, come to think of it, upon returning from chaos, even if they intended to do good again, they'd probably be burned as heretics

Hell Some of my chapters, that i have made are called
Son's of the Phoenix, Black Hawks (no way related to hockey team), Blood Knights, Imperail Guardians, Ironfist Crusaders, Black Fists, and Storm Crusaders.
Hell their are lots of chapters that sound chaosey.
Like the flesh tearers, the raptors, the Soul Eaters, Black Dragons, any blood angel successor, any dark angel successor, right there is pretty much all of the wierd chaosy naming system.
I have to say one thing!
What is your chapter like, for instance what is your chapter good at, whats its structure, whats it based those sort of question come to mind when people read about other chapters.

Well, the Black Dragons actually are tainted by Chaos like the other Cursed Founding chapters, if you believe the tidbit of fluff on it included in one of the index astartes articles.

My vote went to Imperator Erectus... Cause who wouldn't want a SM chapter to sound like an amazing erection?

I had to go with "Emperor's Creed", but Imperator Erectus was kind of a funny one to ponder over.

one more thing... with the color scheme.. I think the dark blue with grey is pretty unique. black+silver/black+gold and all that will look like just some other black templars or whatever. Black is a boring color. Dark Blue with grey detailing is far more interesting.

Erectus means 'upright' or 'raised up' in all the Latin texts and books I have and can find. I have no mention of it meaning 'Pride', which is normally 'superbia', pride or arrogance. Still sounds awesome though!!! I like Dark Paladins with lack armor with gold details, Ithink that'd look best.

Right now Imperator Erectus appears to be in the lead....I quite like it myself.

If you have trouble figuring out a good colour scheme, then check out the space marine painter on the bolter and chainsword forum.(choose v.05. It has wargear options)

I saw the test pic from scrazza's sig. I just googled "what class of predator are you". It's the first link.

the first choice would be humorous the first few times, but it could get very awkward because you would have to explain to EVERY new opponent that the name is something totally different to what they think.

Lots of syllables. Flip it. Tempest Legion is better.

Marine names are hard. They either sound stupid (Space Turtles) or derivative (Imperial Angel Knights). The best one there is Dark Paladins, followed by a flipped Legion of Tempests.

Well, come to think of it you are right on most of those. I've narrowed it down to Emperor's Creed or Dark Paladins. Emperor's Creed really pops IMO, even if it does translate to "Emperor's religious statement." However, Dark Paladins really suits the dark color scheme I've chosen.

you probably want a plural name. Emperors Creed is not plural

So? Deathwatch isn't plural and it sounds cool.

Imperator Erectus sounds like a porno movie from the 41st millenium. To be honest I don't care for any of them, and I'm really bad at coming up with names....
