It's been awhile since we've heard from Mark, and I think for good reason. Check out what's been happening on the DreamForge front. From the website:
Wednesday, March 17, 2010
Out for quote
We hit a milestone today. I just sent the Leviathan out for quote. If everything works out $$ wise it will be printed in the next few weeks and then its on to clean up and molds.
I'm sure it wont be cheap; I have the paramedics on speed dial in case I need them
Components.jpg
You can see the number of components, I will sprue many of these together for the production kit. I wanted to give this model the ability to be customized and posed, hence the great many parts. The first release will be the Mortis and the Crusader, others to follow.
Monday, March 29, 2010
Leviathan Mortis and Crusader are out to print.
John over at Moddler came back with a great price. I still needed to adjust the scale slightly to get it within my budget. The completed models will stand roughly 9-9.5" tall. John will print it when he gets back from a much needed vacation.

Sweet. I'll probably get one(or more) when released.
May not ever play the game they're intended for(I may, never know), but they'll still see use in other games(40K mostly, probably).

That model looks really cool, But I am more interested in the 15mm size he is gonna release. I can get one for Sci-Fi Skirmish. Thinking of converting the 40k rules around a little for 15mm. write stats for minis and such. check out rebelminis and groundzerogames. their 15mm sci-fi stuff is awesome. sorry if off topic, if so ignore me.

I used to balk at the idea of 15mm scale, but lately I've been kind of digging it. Somehow less dorky, plus easier to hide from the ladies you bring home!
Seriously though, if 15mm figs started coming out that looked as good as 30mm, I'd get into it.

Fantastic!
9 to 9.5 inches is probably a little large for use as a Knight proxy, but I'm sure I'll be picking at least one variant up as a display piece, at least.
Nice to see Mark back in business - real shame the original Leviathans never became widely available. (Let's see you shut him down now, GW LegalNazis. )

If I started bringing ladies home, I think hiding my minis would be the last thing on my mind(a homicidal wife would top this list, for instance).

Elusive: thanks for checking in and updating... yep been busy, lots of commission work that’s not posted on the blog due to NDA.
I should have the print in my hands by the 18th. I then need to make pre-production molds, cast three full kits, one to use on the master mold and two others for assembly and painting guides. Best guess at this point is the production molds will be done in July? I hope sooner but it seems a realistic date.
Next up 15mm and possibly 6mm? Then on to updating the Black widow and finalizing the Leviathan Paladin.. and on and on

I bought one of his original resin Leviathans off ebay years ago. He had to refund me the money due to GW shutting him down before he could cast it out and send it to me. I have been waiting ever since, to get my hands on one.

28mm scale will be 9 to 9.5" tall, 15mm models will be roughly 4.5" tall and if I make a 6mm it will be roughly 2" or so.

The print process used on these will take full advantage of the detail modeled into the CAD files.
Unfortunately its very expensive and a 18-20" model would likely run 10-15k to print.
I do have a 4axis cnc mill I will be using for some larger kits but the model needs to be designed from the ground up with the end production method in mind. This kit was not designed for the CnC machine and would require MANY hours to break it up so that the mill could machine it.

That "moddler" website they're using to have the first one made is really cool!
And 9-9.5" is still gigantic, compared to most models... as should be something called "Leviathan"

Its only an inch or two shorter than a Warhound. It'll make for a an interesting class of titans between Knights and Warhouds. I'll wait to see the quality of 3D print and casting before I decide if I'll get one.

Knights aren't Titans, they're Knights, so it would either be a class of Titans smaller than a Warhound or a class of Knight larger than usual(it's for another game system, anyway). I don't know why everyone calls the Knights "Knight Titans", because Epic was pretty clear about them NOT being Titans. 2. That said, it's pretty much the same size as every garage kit made for Knights(which are all around the same size as the Stompa kit, just like this one), so for 40K play, best to just go with a Knight.

I never said a Knight was a Titan. I said his kit would work as a class of titan, between a knight and a Warhound, as in size.
I also have issues with the Ork Stompa being an "Ork Stompa" when based on epic, and the rules its more directly compared to the "Big Stompa" the warhound equivalent as opposed to the Knight Equivalent. I realize the epic scale was always wonky, but comparing any infantry to the epic stompa and then doing the same in 40k scale, its noticably oversized. A 9" knight is 15% too tall, the plastic Stompa is 30% to volumous. Orks aren't known for consistency so it really isn't that big a deal. Call a knight a knight, a titan a titan, but confuse scale too drastically and you're better off calling it a new creation.
I think this Dreamforge model is really cool, but its really something new and unique as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah but they look like a warlord stand in but are far to small for that.

Are you thinking of the old kit? that one may have been a stand in... the new ones dont look like that at all.

That is nice to hear! I know Dakka is 40k heavy but I want to do something that is not just a drop in, something that adds to the gaming community, as you say unique..
I have seen ALOT of squad based games and minis and want to create something vehicle centric that plays more like a WWII sim than the typical roll D6, 4 or better your dead affair.
I have had to neglect the gaming aspects to get the production going but hope to release rules within the year.
