Hey all,

firstly, a little background information. Ive played the hobby since ive been a kid, i have had a few breaks from it but it shall stay with me as a passion, unfortunately i have only been able to share this experience with a great friend of mine (who browses this site every now and then) and of course we usually just play against each other, me space marines/blood angels and him tyranids... and as you would expect from a poor student we dont have the resources to expand as we would like and over the years verusing the same opponent over. and over. and over again can suck the fun out of it (unfortunately) and we have always thought it would be great to introduce some of our other mates into the hobby.

and along came my other mate **** he is a great guy, coming closer to our friendship we thought, might aswell ask him to see if he is interested.. a movie later and a trip to our friendly games workshop and yea, success i suppose - he is coming over tomorrow aswell as chris and were going to do an introduction game aswell as play some xbox/socialise...

well, im happy today and FYI kickass is a great movie.

That's a horrible thing to do to a friend.

Good job. I wish I had more friends to play with. My only friend that plays lives 100 miles away, and my pals that live local think 40k is 'uncool'. Darn them, though I do kinda agree.

The biggest problem, is that if you're over 20 and want to get into it ( Table top wargaming, that is ) is you have very few genuine avenues for meeting other players of your own age....local GW is cool, if you have already kissed goodbye to ever wanting to have sex with a women or engage in anything like a decent conversation!

Nah, luckily we have all the materials we need to play at my place (2 portable gaming tables and a few pieces of terrain) and we can expand it quite easily..

He came over today and we played 3 games (he just wanted to play) so its a good sign, we just did a small battle him using some orks, me SM and my other mate nids.. was really enjoyable

I think its better for you to show them what its like .Most people have a wrong impression of wargaming .
I wouldnt want to force anyone into a hobby for my own sake. When I started the whole wargaming thing I had about 3 other firends who soon followed suit , but they eventually dropped out of it . I dont really speak to any of them now lol. Theres still one of them thats into Tau but doesnt ahve the patience he would rather shoot things on games. When I got to high school I met 2 amazing people who were in my form they liked ard games so I told the mabout Games workshop and they were hooked. Only one of them now is still a hobby enthusiat to this day. Broken scope >< aka Liam . You filthy Imperial guard player hehe .He is also my friend in lots of other aspects and hobbies which really helps.
I think kids grow out of things though , to them its like yu-gi-oh or any card game or fad that comes there way. Soem people just really dont have the patience and time , its all has to be fast and impatient these days.
