He guy's

Can someone give me a few reasons to buy the rulebook then to print out te free rules download?

Is the rulebook much different? I guess the rules are the same but the only difference is the fluff?

Or is the whole rule setup better than the chaotic download?

Just wanne know befor spending $$ on a rulebook instead on the beautiful miniatures....

Well, I have both, but I have an addiction to the smell of printed books (probably something in the solvents). That and it means I don't have to lug my laptop around with me to play (rulebook weighs less) and besides, I don't have an economical printer (haven't got around to acquiring a laser printer yet).

The pdfs are fine - I believe they are JUST the rules section (and neither includes an index). No real difference in the rules themselves (except the 2nd ed hardcover movement distance table has distances in cm, but is labelled "inches" - I believe this is not so in the pdf of it).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

As a starter is it ok to take a Haqqislam Sectorial Army box

or is it better to take the standard box

If you want to play a Sectorial army, make sure you pick up Human Sphere (either PDF or hard-bound). Other than that, either starter is just down to preference.

The free PDF you downloaded from the INFINITY site is exactly 100% reproduction from the rulebook. The PDF lacks a few things from the rulebook:

1. Background & fluff
2. Pretty pictures
3. Hard cover

Since the content is the same including the layout and format, if you do not care about the three things I listed above, then I would recommend just running off the PDF. The Human Sphere (HS) is a good book though, but the rules and new units are available for download as well.

EDIT:
As for the starter boxes, both Haqq starters boxes are solid, but if I were to start Haqq. (Yu Jing player here), I would DEFINITELY get the Sectorial Army. Hassassin Bahram comes with some nice looking models that you will use regularly. It is really, really, REALLY hard to go wrong with the three Hassassins: Fiday, Lasiq and Ragik in one box!

It is worth buying the book for the art and fluff alone. I still printed the rules anyway for accesibility to take to game night at my LGS. As for starters, the both have a model that you can't get in a blister, but it might be better to pick your force first.

I read the pdf before buying the books. I don't like reading large pdf and word documents in a screen, so I finally bought the rulebook just for a better reading. I didn't expect very muchh about the fluff. But it turned out to be quite good also. So...

- Fluff
- All the information in one book. Now two with Human Sphere.
- It's not as expensive as other rulebooks (at least here).
- You are supporting a small fish

Same reasons to buy Human Sphere. All the rules and army lists are available in their web. But for fluff and so... I think it's worth. Nice quality printing, hard cover, new book smell...

But I think that the most important detail would be: where would you print the rules and army lists and such? In home or paying in a store? Then I would buy the book, given the price of ink cartridges and such. At work for free? Then print it LOL

In the following months they are going to release the "exclusive" miniatures in blister, so all of them will be available individually. It begins in the next releases wave with the Grey Rifle guy from Ariadna Starter pack.

I think starters are slightly cheaper than single blisters anyway.

If you really want to play the game, you need to support the company. Games like this can die very easily if not supported by the fans. I plan on buying the book just to support the company alone, even if I may never get to find anyone to actually play the game with.

The minis are so amazing, I'd like to see the company keep making them.

The rulebook and website for Infinity are also massively confusing whenever they mention fluff. A perusal through the fluff of the main book might alleviate some of that I'm hoping as well...
