Making up rumors is hardly a bannable offense. Plus, most people make up rumors that they "heard from a redshirt" anyway, so in this case, its not anything new. No one was injured or hurt by believing these rumors.

It's one thing to hear something from someone that turns out later to be incorrect. It's completely another to fabricate it just to see what happens. Granted, had he not said he had fabricated it it wouldn't have mattered. But he did so I vote suspension (not ban as that implies forever).

I was so angry about the changes to GK, and then to find out it was all just a "joke"? Sorry, but this sort of behaviour is just wrong. This "honest fun" as you call it is far from funny, many people are waiting on rumours for GKs that could affect their purchasing (ie money issues) and their chances of winning at major tournaments. Hulksmash has a point, but I'd prefer to see an outright ban.

One of the very few rules of the DCM forum is that members of dakka who are not DCMs are not discussed, except as passing references as much as possible.
