Greetings
Another long time lurker here, infact DakkaDakka was the first wargaming site I came across (other than
gw) some 10 years ago when I first got connected, and its always been the first I read.
A bit about me, like many others I first got into gaming when I was given HeroQuest for Xmas in 1989, which blew me and my friends away and was played almost daily for months afterwards. That was followed by Space Crusade a year later, then Advanced Space Crusade (I did get AHQ too, but never really played it). These games introduced me to
40K and I've been in love with the grimdark awesomesauce of superhumans with über guns battling alien monsters ever since.
That being said I've never gotten into the actual game of
40K. While I did buy the 2nd edition boxset, and play a few games on the kitchen table with my brother (which seemed to go on forever and never end) it just didn't get me hooked like the board games did.
During this time I had began painting the models, mainly due to me being sick of seeing armies of beige or grey models. I had no clue on how to do this, but bought a few colours and a brush and went at it. The results were terrible though, and in the end put me off the hobby completely for a good few years. About 4 years ago I picked up a copy of
WD, after seeing the amazing new line of models online, and my taste for painting was reborn. Since then I've been dabbling whenever I have a spare hour
Heres my current favourite piece, a Crimson Fists Vanguard Sgt
Anyhoo, I'm glad to be here, and I look forward to chewing the xenos fat with you
