I have an urge to get a stormclad and Ol' Rowdy but do not know where to go from there.Maybe divide the force into 2 with Kara Sloan and go with a fire support base while Stryker/Rowdy and the Blades/Stormclad beat stuff into the ground ?.I just cannot decide and would gladly take any help/advice offered.
So you have:
pStryker
Ironclad
Lancer
Charger
1) I cannot suggest enough the value in getting a Journeyman Warcaster and letting him (or her) run the Charger. That will allow a separate and extremely dangerous warjack to run a flanking action that will always have two shots that have boosted attack and damage dice. I have won many games with this very combo. In fact, during Shattered Grounds: Nightfall I was undefeated except for one game in the finale event because of these two models.
2) I haven't used Kara yet, but just speaking of Stryker having Ol' Rowdy makes him a lot more survivable as long as you keep them in based to base until you need the 'jack go rush out and hurt something. I would go ahead and recommend getting him, especially since you were already thinking of it.
3) Go ahead and get the Stormclad. Its a fantastic 'jack with reach and a ranged weapon. Since you have the Stormblades, he becomes more focus efficient since they give him a focus a turn. You also won't need to worry about the electro-leap killing or damaging each other because they are all immune to llightning.
4) The Lancer is tricky. I used to run him in every list and then I realized I pretty much never used him. For the most part, I play my Cygnar in a manner that I don't really cast spells for offense, but I use their focus for buffs and 'jacks. If you are like me, then you are paying a premium for an arcnode that you aren't going to use. Save him for later when you pick up Haley or Nemo. I run him for flank protection as if a unit of infantry manage to get around my side, they have to engage him first or take a bunch of free strikes to get to my warcaster. I killed a full unit of Uhlan cavalry (spelling) because they wanted to charge Nemo and thought the Lancer wouldn't be able to put enough hurt on them for it to matter.
For advice on how to run Cygnar, I think splitting how they operate is not the best idea. I would run them as very melee or very ranged and not try to do both. Every time I have tried to do that I have lost. That is not to say the Stormblades and Stormclad would not work in a melee list. Their ranged weapon is just a bonus and their Assault order works extremely well even if their target is jsut out of charge range. For my tastes and what you already have, my next warcaster would be Siege or pCaine. Siege is great and controlling the battlefield and the ranged weapon he has is fantastic at clearing out infantry. Between him and your Stormblades/Stormclad you should have no trouble with infantry. For Caine, use the Ironclad to knock down enemies to be shot to death with pCaine or grant a clear shot at the warcaster and you have won. Not too many things can stand up to a round of pCaine with full focus and line of sight.
If you do get pCaine, my next purchases would be these:
1) Arcane Gun Mages x2
2) Arcane Gun Mage Captain (AGM
UA) - makes that unit MUCH better
3) Black 13th
4) Sentinel - Shield Guard (keep it within 2 inches of Caine) and to be jack marshaled to the AGMCaptain so that all the initial attacks get the special ranged benefit of the AGM. the Sentinel is not the greatest for killing things, but using Push on its bullets can disrupt the opponents plans. if you want a little more offensive sniping, go Hunter or Defender but be aware that the Sheild Guard property has saved Caine from several
CRAs int he past.
As a note, pCaines themed list is what I most often run when playing Cygnar and I have a ton of fun. The ONLY time I have ever lost was a Cryx Mortenbra list where I miscalculated and I let the Deathjack get into melee with pCaine due to some bad assumptions and good spellcasting by the Cryx player on feat turn. After the game we talked and realized that nothing in the entire game would have survived that melee. Advice, don't let the Deathjack near your warcaster.
If you do get Siege, my next purchases would be these:
1) Trenchers and
UA - More control
2) Trencher Commandos and Scattergunner
3) Centurian
4) 1 or 2 Grenadiers (if you buy the Trenchers) or Hunter if you don't
That is my off the top of my head advice and I am sure if I sat down with you and we talked it could be more streamlined. if you have more questions, let me know.
