I have seen some reviews saying its a good game before but I couldn't find anything saying how much it costs to get into the game. How many models/points do you need for a decent game?

I don't play (though it looks like a great game, that I would like to get into someday if I can find a community for it), but I've read multiple times that its around 300pts (6 models, give or take maybe one or two depending how many points they cost). I think there are also some "advantage cards" which also need to take up points.

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/285360.page Bingo! I love the game and will sing it's praises. I've recruited 7 player locally and we have quite a nice scene here in DFW. Just recently we've gotten the Anima players to outnumber the 40k players on several occasions at the FLGS 6 to 8 models at 300 points is a tournament list. You also get 10% of your point total extra to spend on advantage cards, though you can spend your regular points on them too. You can play a Dark team (Dark and Neutral models), Light team (Light and Neutral models), or an Organization team (all one Organization regardless of Light or Dark and one Wanderer, like a mercenary). My very successful tourney list is 6 models and cost $65. Changing one or two models changes up the synergy of your team completely. The main draw of the game for me is that the rules are simple and solid and that the strategy comes from the characters and the game itself, not in having to keep 9 million rules and exceptions straight. If you want a community for it, go here. Almost all of the character stats are here. Shoot me a PM if you have any questions!

The artwork is just delicious, great models and from the very little experience playing so far the game is fun.
Have Samael and Church for my daughter (who loves it too) and will probably get Wissenschraft later also for a bit of variation.
We have only played with a couple of agents per side so far to get the hang of the rules and gameplay. (approx 150 points) Even a 2 vs 2 is fun. Can't wait for a bigger game.
Kudos to Cannerus and co for the outnumbering the 40K players

First thing I'm going to say is don't bother with the two starter boxes. They include a rulebook, but it's kind of outdated at this point, and the models included are kind of boring. Either download the included rulebook online for free, or purchase the new one.
I'd say for trying out, 3-4 models per side would be a good start.
At about 4 models per side, you're having fun games in my experience. But it does get better with more models (To a point).
If you think you're going to get into it, try to make sure they models are from the same faction, rather then dark/light. This way if you do get into it you'll be able to run a faction, which is far stronger.

Don't think the starters are too bad at all.
Well the Dark is good imho coz I was wanting Samael anyway.
Got the other on ebay at a really good price that was too good to miss so have Evangaline for my daughter's squad and Roxxer thrown in as well just for the sake of it !
But otherwise probly wouldn't have bothered in hindsight as I was going to rely on th elittle booklets, but decided to go for the big book sooner than I intended. It is very nice and worth getting.

After a conversation with cannerus I have decided to pick up a couple figs and give it a shot. Fortunately my lgs is going to let me just borrow the rule book for a game to see if I like the mechanic. Heres hoping its fun for me. I'm gonna have to let my opponent proxy some random 40k figs since I'm the only one who wants to invest in it just yet but thats because Bael and Kairos look fun to paint.

The rules in the little starter book/pdf are the same
Obviously the hardback goes into more detail
We managed to get by with just the little one, but glad to
have the big book.

Is there a source where I can see the actual models themselves? I've noticed that FFG and Cipher tend to advertise using the concept arts.
While some like The Colonel and Dinah are faithful to their concepts:
http://store.fantasyflightgames.com/productdetails.cfm?SKU=CS2019
http://store.fantasyflightgames.com/productdetails.cfm?SKU=CS1012
...some deviate significantly from their concept for the worse:
http://store.fantasyflightgames.com/productdetails.cfm?SKU=CS3019
http://store.fantasyflightgames.com/productdetails.cfm?SKU=CS3021
http://store.fantasyflightgames.com/productdetails.cfm?SKU=CS1025
I'm worried about how some models such as Lilith and Grimorium who have no models showing would appear. Hell, I've noticed that The Female Wissenschaft Agent hasn't had a listed model in the months I've been curious over this game.

Didn't think that XII is so bad and actually quite like the nini tbh But Genma is not one of their finest moments.
Upcoming/newer figures often don't have a pic of the model which may explain the lack of Lilith pics
I usually just google if I wish to see if their is a mini
Grimorium is good
The Oracle has art and model

I'm not hating on the minis themselves, but some (especially Genma) deviate so far from the concept art that it'd be difficult to tell an unpainted model was based on that art.
Are you sure that's the Wissenschaft Agent? That looks like Cennette...
I saw that Anima Wiki, but even that has missing model photos. I'm wondering if there is some site out there that has a comprehensive listing of all the models and pictures for each.
