It was a normal day on hive world Minea and the civilians of Minea were un-aware of the danger they are in...

Assassination and Pitched battle.

Kharn the Betrayer = 165 pts.

Elites - 5 x Chaos Terminators (Reaper Autocannon, Heavy flamer, 2 combi weapons and mark of Tzeentch)

Troops - 10 x Thousand Sons ( Doombolt, Bolt of Change, ) = 265 pts.
10 x Khorne Berserkers (Skull Champion, meltabomb and Rhino) = 265 pts.

Heavy Support - Land Raider = 220 Pts.
Chaos Vindicator (havoc launcher) = 125
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Paul - Chaos Space marines 1500 pts.

HQ - Chaos Sorcerer ( Bolt of change ) 150 pts.

Troops - 10 x Berserkers (Skull Champion and Rhino) = 260 pts.
10 x Berserkers (Skull Champion and Rhino) = 260 pts.

Heavy Support - Land Raider = 220 pts.
Defiler = 155 pts
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dylan - Tau 1100 pts.

I dont know what Dylan had as wargear, I also dont know the points value of his models. Sorry!

HQ - Eatheral. (spelling?)

Troops - 10 x Fire warriors
10 x Fire warriors

Heavy support - 3 Broadsides.
Hammerhead Gunship.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Team 2

John - Imperial Guard

HQ - Command squad

Troops - 10 x Guardsmen
10 x Guardsmen

I don't know what Valkyries are classed at but he had 3, and 5 Chimeras.

Luke - Imperial Guard

HQ - Command Squad

Troops- 10 x Guardsmen
10 x Guardsmen

A Basilisk and a Chimera as well.

Shamrock - Orks.

HQ - Warboss

Troops - 30x Boyz
10x Boyz

Elites - 10 x Nobz
3 x Deffkoptas.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Turn 1 - Imperial Guard and Orks.
John launched his Valkyries and sent them hurtling towards my Land Raider and Chaos Sorcerer. He disembarked 10 Guardsmen 3 with Meltas in front of my Land Raider. Not a pretty sight to see! He pushed up the other two next to Paul land raider and Dylan's broadsides. The Chimeras Kicked into action hurtling towards my Thousand sons. It looked like we were nearly gone in just turn 1! The hammer of the Imperium came down hard in the Heretics, reducing my Land Raider to a big hunk of molten metal. Paul's Land raider was immobilised and the crew shaken. Dylan remained unscathed during this shooting phase. There were no Assaults.

Turn 1 - Heretics.
I had to take my pinning test with my Khorne berserkers and passed it allowing me to assault John's Guardsmen with Kharn and nine berserkers. I angled my Sorcerer so I would get the cover save from the wrecked Land Raider but have a clear shot on John's Valkyrie. Paul's Rhino moved up behind terrain for that valuable save. I cast bolt of change on Johns Valkyrie, past, hit and rolled a five and sixes for armour pen. I then rolled and double six and it exploded in a massive ball of fire! My Thousand sons rapid fired onto the squad of Guards man only managing to kill 2!! Dylan's hammerhead opened fired and managed to bring down another Valkyrie. My vindicator pivoted and shot at the Deffkoptas but it scattered away. Paul's Defiler opened fire on Luke's command squad killing them all removing Luke from the game! I assaulted the remains of the Guardsmen and wiped them out, Paul then assaulted and wiped out another Guardsman squad.

Turn 2 - Imperial Guard and Orks.
With one less player Team 2 were at a major disadvantage, John losing half of his army in the first turn. We were sure victory was at hand, until disaster struck. John last Valkyrie fired its Lascannon at Paul Sorcerer, Paul had to make his two Invuns or he was out the game...and he didn't, he rolled snake eyes and was removed from the game!
the game was level now. The Ork Deffkoptas hurtled into combat with my vindicating and ripped it to shreds, and then consolidated 2" away from Dylan's Hammerhead.

Turn 2 - The Heretics
I deep striked my terminators right behind his command chimera and ready myself for what was going to be the killing blow to Johns army. I moved up all my Khorne berserkers and thousand sons. Dylan opened fire, exploding the Command chimera killing four Guardsmen out of the command squad, leaving just the Commissar open to my terminators and thousand sons! I emptied My thousand sons into the commissar, killing him and removing him from play. My terminators opened fire on the Warboss taking him down in a hail of bullets.

Victory to The Heretics!!

I thought this was a well played game with so many on the edge of your seat moment. Please comment and give some advice!

How did it end so quickly? What happened to the basilisks?

I'm sorry, it was my first time writing one up.

The boy with the basilisks had to go but his leader was dead anyway.

I think he means Sky Ray. They use to be known as Stingrays if I'm not mistaken.

6 players and it's over turn 2?

Interesting enough of a report I suppose, but the mission you guys ran sounds pretty borked to me.

I'm not like them, but I can pretend.

Lol there are a lot of fishy things going on. The Chaos players weren't using 1500 points, the terminator squad in the first list is illegal, with 5 termies you can't take the reaper and the heavy flamer. Defiler is 150 points not 155, Berserkers are fearless so they don't take pinning tests etc...

PS Chaos is awesome

if it is a hammerhead, im pretty sure the tau guy's missing some stuf or points, even with loads of wargear i doubt that would come to 1100...

Funnily enough I was John in this game....

I remember it slightly differently...

It was an assassination game with 3k points per side, the heretics were supposed to have 1k points each. However the other players in my team didnt have enough points to make up for it so I brought on the 2 executioners.

My army list:
Command squad - 4 meltas, chimera
Veteran Squad - 3 meltas, chimera
Veteran Squad - 3 meltas, chimera
Veteran Squad - 3 plasmas, chimera
Vendetta
Vendetta
Vendetta
Leman Russ Executioner - Plasma sponsons, HB
Leman Russ Executioner - Plasma sponsons, HB

The Tau player had a tooled up Shas'el with 2 bodyguards, and 2 custom vehicles - a heavy hammerhead with a destroyer railgun, and an upsized, upgunned pirahna... It was technically 3k points so he used his apocalyspe rules... On the other hand, I could use my vendettas as flyers.

The other lists sound about right. This was partly a demonstration game for the new players (Orks, the other imperial guard)

Anyway, it was a 6x4 table, setup along the long edges 18'' deployment (dont ask me why, I arrived late). The imperials and orks got the rolloff and chose to go first.

The orks positioned themselves behind some ruins spread out, getting ready for the inevitable deepstrikers. His dethcoptas were positioned as far forward as possible. The other guard player setup a classic gunline while I made an armored column with my excutioners leading and my chimeras behind. 2 of my vendettas loaded up with my melta vets and setup on the line, while the other hung back.

The heretics setup with Alex' chaos on the far right, occupying a ruin with his thousand sons and sorc, defiler and land raider with berserkers in front, and a rhino hiding behind a tower. The other chaos player setup on the other side, land raider with beserkers on the far left edge, vindicator next to it, and sorc behind that. His devestator squad setup on top of a building in the centre. The tau player hid his devilfish and ethereal with firewarrior squad behind said building and deployed his second firewarrior squad on top as well. His heavy railhead went on a hill at the far right corner, and broadsides setup on the right tower.

The 2 vendettas holding melta goodness scouted closer to the 2 landraiders, whilst the dethcoptas infiltrated aiming for the vindicator. There was a squad of chosen that infiltrated to protect the right flank (and defiler) against the coptas...

Turn 1... The heretics failed to seize...

The 2 vendettas unload the melta vets, the dethcoptas move up. My armored column advances and shuffles to clear firing lanes. The orks spread out.

Shooting - Melta goodness explodes the left land raider, and immobilises the second. The dethcoptas stun the vindicator, a couple of broadsides fall to lucky lascannon shots, and the armored column spits death and kills half a firewarrior squad, all the devestators, and the chosen squad! All leadership tests are passed (sadly)

The deathcoptas assault and explode the vindicator.

A good first turn, their assault troops are mostly stuck on their side and the imperials have much more long ranged firepower. Its going badly for them...

Heretics turn 1

Defiler and rhino charge forwards, beserkers from both landraiders move up to threaten my meltavets, everything else cowers at imperial firepower!

Shooting is pretty decent, stunning and weapon destroying the vendettas, but clearing out most of lukes large command squad (8/10 dead!) and downing 2 dethcoptas. Luckily the bolt of change was disallowed as only their side saw the rolls?! The second attempt was less spectacular. The heavy railhead blew a turret off one executioner. Yes the beserkers and thousand sons couldnt hit a barn, let alone puny guardsmen 3 feet in front of them.
They made up for it in assault, clearing both meltavets and consolidating forwards.

Turn 2 imperials

Looking good so far, my melta vets did the job, and with a bit of luck turn 2 will prove just a good for us..

All my vendettas decided that things were looking a bit dicey so low to the ground and so changed to flyer mode! Nice that everyone else wanted to play with apoc rules! The gunline did nothing, except for his depleted command squad running for cover. My armored column advanced, but more slowly. The orks cried a bit cause there wasnt any fighting. The last dethcopta moved to threaten the ethereal in transport.

Shooting saw the vendettas wrecking the defiler, the armored column halving both the thousand sons and the right beserker squad. The gunline had lost their chimera and basilisk from something (the broadsides last turn?) but they managed to kill of the last broadside.
No assaults.

The imperials were winning handily at this point, all we had to do was weather their deepstrikers and mopping up is left....

Turn 2 Heretics

Down come their deepstrikers, Tau commander and 2 bodyguards, the chaos termies and kharn, all around my armored column. They explained with glee what an assassination mission meant, and suddenly a chimera didnt seem like enough protection for my commander...

Luckily Kharn mishaped and went back to reserves, whilst the termies were out of position...

First, the tau laid into the ork warboss and nob squad, putting 2 nobs down.. Then the heavy railhead demolished my command squad chimera, and knocked it down to 2 guys... The termies fired into another chimera, turning it into a metal box... Shooting from the sneaky piranha killed off the last of lukes command squad, and his army promptly died. Just 2 players left.

And that was it. Bad, but not that bad... Time for revenge

Turn 3 Imperial

Vendettas flew about, whilst my commander ran into another chimera which moved away from the deepstrikers but towards the rest of their army... My plasma vets got out and waved cheerily to the termies, my other chimera turned around to face them as well... The orks moved up to the tau commander..

The vendettas shot the chaos sorcerer, bringing half the chaos forces out of the game... Unfortunately it was the wrong half. Other shooting saw the executioners put 6 wounds on the tau commander, and the termies wiped out due to some lucky rolling.

The orks finally got to see some action, and the Waargh' saw the boys and warboss charge into the tau. The resulting shambles saw the last nobs die, and the tau left with just his commander on 1 wound!

Haha, their (not so) cunning plan failed, and my commander lives. They dont have anything long ranged left, and my vendettas are all flying (albeit with 4 weapons between them)

Heretics turn 3

The tau commander hit and ran away, and the sneaky piranha moved out of nowhere to wreck my (new) command chimera. Hehe my commander got out on the far side and started to make raspberry noises. But that was premature. The other sorc and the thousand sons could see his feet through a gap in the wreckage. After making 5 saves against the bolters, a bolt of change flew in from out of nowhere and turned my commander into a puddle of multicoloured goo. I was out :(

To finish things off, the Tau commander rapid fired with the many many weapon systems on his suit and downed the warboss.

So close! 1 cover save was all that separated victory from defeat!

In the end, the field is left with all the imperials dead, the orks scattered, and the enemies of the Emperor victorious. A sad day indeed.
