So, after getting a large dose of Rhulic goodness in a recent trade, I've gotten much more enthusiastic about Warmachine. Combined with a few consecutive days of steady hands I sat down and put some paint on the figs to get an idea of what I liked. And I was fortunate to find a color scheme I liked with the first shot. Its similar to the 'codex' scheme for some of the Rhulic stuff on the PP site/books, but Im running a bunch of Vallejo model colors and my own inks/washes, so the colors are a little different but impart the same sort of feel.

They arent 100% complete- I still need basing, and some clean up/detail painting. But for a couple afternoons of effort Im quite happy with the results so far. But Im going for a simple, sort of grungy 'been in the field' sort of look and so far Im pretty happy with it.

First up-Forgeguard.

(And one with funky lighting that came out interesting)

Next up is a Driller- the standard melee heavy warjack thats cheap & effective:

The counterpart to the Driller- is the more combat oriented Wroughthammer Rockram.

And a couple of the 'gun bunnies', the one with the drum magazine on top is a Blaster(think shotgun), the other is a Gunner.

And a character model- Thor Steinhammer (has his own P&M thread for the flame stuff: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/303563.page )

Alrighty- as in the previous post- these are about 90% done. Have a rough base on Gorten- it needs better coloring and some static grass/weeds growing between the stones. Otherwise- enjoy.

Gorten, not my favorite caster in terms of playstyle, but c'mon, hes got a double barrel handcannon. That makes him twice as cool as the casters that only have a regular hand cannon...And yes- if you look close hes aiming with his left eye and squinting his right. It pretty much came out that cool by accident/luck.

Herne & Jonne, easier to refer to them as H&J(a joke spin off of H&K....)

Highshield goodness! If these dudes take as long to kill as they did to paint, theyll have been worth the effort

These look great! The dirty, muted green really suits the rhul folk well!

Good looking dwarf force!

What kind of bases are you planning? I think the bases will be a major factor in making these figs pop as the colors are so muted the contrast between the base and figs is needed to bring some life to the figs and make them more interesting to the eye.

Im thinking either the cut stone test base like I have on Gorten, or some cobble stone bases. Add in some grass/weeds growing up between the stones, and some loose rubble and possibly empty beer steins or mining tools

Ive got another unit of forge guard and High shileds, then a few more gun bunnies. And then the Rhulics are all done and good to 50+ points. Then I'll probly do my Cryx stuff- get the two extremes between solid & slow, vs fast & fragile ^_^

Although, I should have my merc book tomorrow....so the cryx might get to wait if any of the non-privateer tier lists look like fun (I has no pirates except Fiona )

I love these.

The neutral colours your using are excellent and the dirtied effects just what was needed.

Top stuff.

Brilliant color choice! My favorite is the flame troop with the directional lighting. Very cool. Might have to try that with my daemonettes on lava bases.

Nice. I'm liking the colour scheme a lot. Look forward to following this thread.
