One big thing I think you're missing is Recon units. A single ambush by any AT unit is going to cost you a platoon and your guys are really too expensive to lose that way.

As sad as it is, I'd think about replacing the Stuarts with an Armoured Recon Platoon to fulfill the duty. Then again, I might even trade out a Sherman platoon instead since the Stuarts are really useful. Choices, choices.

Alternately, if you want to be funny, you can take an AOP spotter plane. You have no artillery, but the AOP can also fly ahead of your tanks and detect ambushes just like Recon troops can. It's a lot cheaper then the Armoured Recon Platoon too, though it can't quite cover as much area.

I don't have any M8s or jeeps right now, but was thinking of getting some.

would you reccomend 1 or 2 patrols for this pts level? for future reference.

i could drop 1 M4 Sherman platoon, add one M4 sherman to the other platoon, and have 1 Recon Patrol(2 M8s, 1 morter jeep, and 1 recon jeep) with 40 pts left over.

other then that does it look good?

from what i have seen(Which isn't much ) the local German players don't ambush as much as the American and British players.

1 Recon patrol is probably sufficient for your army, and keeping your tank count as high as you can is a good thing. Your idea of dropping a Sherman platoon and building up the other is a good one. Extra points can add another mortar track or hedgerow cutters or whatever.

Just about every time you play Mission 3 or 4 (Hold the Line and Fighting Withdrawal), you'll be facing an ambush since Cobra rules require you to be the attacker whenever possible. The exception would be if your opponent also has the same rule, in which case you'd dice off for it.

I think that looks pretty good (though I agree that adding in some Recon would be a good idea).

Why did you decide to go with the AT gun rather than the bazooka? I have always gone with the bazooka and had never considered the AT gun (not sure why)

actually the 37mm is a mistake.

it was copy and pasted from a 3rd company list i was kicking around.

the 2nd can't get 37mm.

i was thinking the increased range would be nice, but decided against it.

I think I would drop the Stuarts. In late war they are very crunchy, and have no hitting power, and at 2000, most German players I know will field big cats.
Maybe add some artillery, or tank destroyers.

I have found that Stuarts can be quite useful against German forces with expensive Panzer platoons. They can skirt around and threaten objectives or artillery (of course sometimes they just die -- but not always) -- and you do need something that will keep the big tanks occupied while the Stuarts are skulking about.

The 32" At the double move usually can let you get behind cover fairly easily.

I do like my stuarts.

last game they got behind the enemy lines and killed a Nerbelwerfer and almost took out his CC PanzerIV while drawing the fire of 3 Panthers(allowing my allied artillery to kill 1 and bail another).

the German players really HATE stuarts around here.

I would also have you think about adding some infantry to your list I like those pesky armored rifle company's. And those Stewart can do some damage from behind as well as pin down arty and anti aircraft units. Also see about adding some 105mm M4a3 Sherman tanks. they can do indirect as well as much need punch to your tanks. In my humble experience tanks are cool but tend to bog down when you need them most. Sherman also have weak side and rear armor and fall prey to all forms of attacks. German big cats are nice but so damned expensive and you will have numbers on them. Arty / Air / Infantry assault can take them down faster than your Sherman tanks trying to slug it out.

The difficult anytime, the impossible by appointment only!!
