I mostly have my AT-43 stuff because I like collecting things. I've been thinking about paring down all my collections, not just AT-43, but the AT collection would be first on the chopping block because right now, the game feels dead.
I know that Rackham just opened up their new forums on their site, such that quiet on the old forums might not mean anything...but does anyone know about whether they're actually working on new rules, whether those new rules are any good, when and if new product will be hitting shelves, etc.?
It's easier to justify keeping the collection if the game is going to turn into something that might be attractive to other wargamers, otherwise...time to hit the eBay...

Sentinels (demo folk) should be seeing the v2 ruleset soon. It's in translation at the moment. Nothing is supposed to have been made obsolete. Seems the new rules are more about streamlining and clarifying, which I think is good.
Apparently the game is going to be built around the Army Box concept, which I like...but, it has me curious as to what that means in regards to expanding your army.
All in all, I'm fine to wait and see what happens. AT-43 is my game of choice. The rules aren't bad ('though translation can be) and I love the models (especially the fact that they are pre-painted) and the universe. So, I've got my "glass half full" fingers crossed as I rub my rabbits foot that the new v2 of the game can find a player base.
Rackham Entertainment is, for all intents and purposes, an entirely different company than the old Rackham. They seem to be aware of the mistakes of the past, and are trying to move forward in a tough market and with a poor reputation.
So, one thing they're trying not to do is announce too many things that never come to fruition. Keeping quiet until things are a bit more concrete. So, it seems like more silence but, I think, it's better for the company in the long run.

At-43 has a lot of potentials. Even if Rackahm Entertainment does not want it, I'm confident that other game companies will like to pick it up. I am very uncertain about the future for Confrontation AoR on the other hand.

Are you simply talking rules 2.0 or will new models be released as well? ONI and Cogs need some fleshing out of their units.
I am cautiously optimistic but this talk of building forces around the box sets scares me. I am reserving judgment until I see the finished product though.

As for "building around the box sets", it's more about plans for box sets to be released to complement it(think a box containing a unit and vehicle for about 500 points to give you further options or a quick expansion) than requiring you to build an army from there. At least, that's what I got from what Gregoire told us. We should know more about that in a week or two, honestly.

That sounds like a good plan. It should make entry to the game or adding to the game easier. My fear was the game would be compromised to some degreee to sell more miniatures. I am glad it sounds like I am wrong on that.
AT-43 is a great game. I hope this latest effort on RE's part does the trick to get it the exposure and solid footing it deserves.

I still think they went overboard with the space apes.
They have some of the best artists in the world working on the game... and they put in stock Earth based apes as another faction.
You've got an entire galaxy or universe in which to write... unlimited possibilities... but they go with space apes.
I'd be fine if they were a stylized alien primate-like species with some overall similarities to gorillas, but nope, straight gorillas with guns. That's a serious waste of talent right there, and turned me away from the game more than most. This from a company with an amazing take on wolf people.
It's like that Alkemy game. Great artwork, great sculpts, interesting rules... but they have straight up cat people. No, not stylized cat people with more interesting artistic interpretation, nope. It's straight up humans in cat suits with lion heads.

Has ANYBODY read the fluff? or get any idea what is about AT-43, you dont have to like it or like the fluff, those are subjective things in there... but saying it isnt the most original game is a redundancy, no game is 100% original, everything else is based on something exsiting... Therians do NOT have Hive Mind, they have a concensus... as in voting the course of action... and each Therians is as individualist as it could be, so at least read the fluff BEFORE you start complaining
Space Elves, Space orks, Space undead or Deamons in WH40k or Zarist russia, religious zealotery or Wannabe medievals americans in WM... Druids, or Slavers in Hordes
WHFB is basic Fantasy... a lot of it taken from myths or existing cultures.... What is the difference of space monkeys versus ratmen versus lizerdmen versus catmen in Alkemy.... none...all are based on the same "real stuff"
Necromancers and Frankenstein type of things with wizards and gunslingers in Malifaux --> all based in existing stereotypes
Agree, once in a while things appear here and there that are "surprising" but not the full 100% of the game
The fact that they are not 100%original does not mean it is a bad game... or has a bad fluff...

The Therians are anything but good guys. Prolonging the life of the universe sounds laudable, but its a task with benefits measurable only eons from the current timeline and provifing an undisclosed extension of time, not the prevention of entropy itself.
Meanwhile due to mental degradation many Therians are worried that their society will not last beyond the immediate next millenia.
The Therians go to extreme and often unecessary measure to execute their plan. Any society capable of building Dyson spheres will not need the cultures they foster to destablise the systems with heavy industrialisation.
The Therians application of their play is thoroughly out of scale and utterly psychopathic.
a comperative example:
A madman has a plan to preserve an island . So he imports a family to the island and lets them buiild a hut on the island in the hope that they will put up preservation notices on the island claiming it from others and develop it by living there.
His plan which, he alone has the resources to perform is to build a thousand foot wall around the island to preserve it. So he thinks that if the family build a hut that is contributing to m mining the rock on the island and thus making mining enough rock to build the big wall 'easier'.
So once the the family has build a mine dug some rocks and built a hut he sends in his goons to annihilate the family take over the island and expand the mine to build a 1000 foot wall around the island thus preseving it.
The wall is there to preserve the island for eternity, yet the man has a high probability of devloping a cancer and has no heirs. Compared to eternity he wojnt be around long enough to benefit from the preserved island, and noone else can scale the wall.
Sane plan?

Its all a matter of perspective.
I prefer not to think of anyone as good or bad. They just are what they are. Individuals fighting for what they beleive in.
Good or bad doesn't enter into the equation. Such a dichotomic moral compass is archaic and irrelevant.

AT-43 v2 is currently in the works.
Rackham and the community is working on it.
The system was, and still is very promising, those happy and sad faces are actually quite clever game mechanics.

Well, I am about AT-43 in my local gaming store a week ago, so I ask the shopkeeper his thoughts about the game.
He said that the game is very confusing, although the game seems very appealing to me.
Is the shopkeeper right? My budget is kinda low so I can't afford a game that is not good.....

The core rules work well, happy and sad needs to be replaced by 1 and 7, its better that way because then the rules can be written better. So you dont need to a roll a '4','5', or 'happy', you just need to roll '4+'.

The problem there is the community. A lot of the supporting rules are counterintuitive, or just plain negate any tactical value in the game. The fanbois cant see these faults and clap on like happy campers with whatever tidbit Rackham throws them.
I hopwe V2 fixes things, I suspect that the core problems with the game will go unadressed: postage stampt sized play areas, poor area effect rules and points imbalances.

Orlanth,
I didn't write everything that appears in your quote box.
I suspect that your answers are the extra bits.
The "fanboys" are working with rackham on the v2 at the moment. I'll just add that they aren't clapping at the moment.
They are supposed to playtest and tell rackham about glaring faults and little problems.
This includes rules that could be misunderstood, balance issues and table sizes.
But it's in the beta phase ! we can't just expect them to go "BLAM!!" and behold the shiny new at-43.
Play AT-44 while you wait for at-43 v2.

Looks like Rackham Entertainment has been closed by the parent company. I don't have the link but it is easily found on google with a minute of searching.
Rumor is "they" are searching for a buyer to the AT and Confron licence to continue these great games.
Bad news, but perhaps a light at the end of a long tunnel?

I guess that's the end of AT-43. Maybe if they'd attended to a second edition of the rules around the time I first suggested the idea, and made the game more playable, it would have picked up in sales and the company would still be around.
Oh wells. Time to hit eBay and get rid of my ridiculously large collection of AT-43 stuff, I think.
