I don't see how. These are clearly fortifications rather than space corridors or industrial towers.

So you think that Paper Makeit Pillboxes and Corridors are too dissimilar for them to be competing with Litko Aerosystems industrial towers and space corridors? They make some pretty good space corridors and industrial towers.

Well, $5.90 for a tool that let you create endless combination of buildings is not so much if compared to solid structures.

Indeed, if I am not wrong, Litko Aerosystems sells really good products, but made in solid material. We live in completely different markets.

...anyway, I think it looks kind of cool. Better than what I'd expect from paper terrain.

Does this program have a feature that accounts for the thickness of material, so materials thicker than paper can be used?

Must we dig up the "Litko" joke every time something similar comes along?

Actually, the answer is "no".

I am afraid to say no, it doesn't.

You can only adjust the size of external/internal texture to take into account the thickness of your support. Anyway this is a good question. Recoding the software is not a problem, it should be analyzed how much could this option be requested.

I missed your reply on this sorry... I for one would have a use for this feature if you decided to implement it. You can gauge for your self the amount of interest there is in building stuff from plasticard (sheet styrene) on the site.

Cool program though

many thanks, asmith.

I see.. Indeed Plasticard is something quite discussed here.

Questions:
1) What is the most used thickness for buildings like Pillboxes?
2) Would you glue the printed sheet on the plasticard or print on an adhesive sheet?

I think if you could cover between .5 and 2mm you would get the large majority of sheet used. I use 1mm as standard.

IMO you would glue the sheets onto the plasticard and then use them as templates to cut the individual pieces.

Just to understand, how would you proceed with a Pillbox?

Would you glue the cut paper to form the outside texture, then glue single pieces of plasticard on the internal side of paper, then glue again the paper to the internal side of plasticard. Or would you proceed in a different way?

I think I understand your question. I would not fold it like paper I would cut the pattern apart so that the individual sides were separate and glue them together on the edges. Your template would have to compensate for the material thickness by altering the size of the templates it would have to mate with.

Does that answer your question?

Maybe you could come up with a better solution that what I just wrote, but that is what I had in mind when I initially made the request.

I was just thinking how you wrote.

For higher thickness it would be hard to fold the plasticard.

Anyway the steps would be external paper, internal plasticard and last internal paper.

I believe the code should only resize internal paper sheets in this way. Right?

I think asmith is saying that he would use, say, a printout (on paper) of a wall section, but remove the 'fold flap'. He would then use the paper as a template to cut the wall out of plasticard. If he does this for a bunker, he would then glue the plasticard to plasticard, and wondered if that would change the shape or dimensions of the bunker.

I don't know if that is any clearer :-(

I did have a question: I downloaded the demo program, and it seems pretty cool. Does it have alternate 'skins' or color options for the walls other than the brown color in the demo? I was thinking along the lines of light grey (cement), dark grey, etc.

So, the final building would be made only of plasticard and then painted.

In this case the code could resize only internal parts to be glued. Currently you can do it now, but you have to resize by yourself single pieces: the tool contains a selector with the printed scale. You have only to insert a different scale for that specific pieces. In future I will add a code that will do this automatically for each involved part.

As for your question, the tool offer now only that skin, but I can add the possibility to change the tone of it, like already seen in Cargo Containers, the previous tool released, where you can choose one from 16 million colors.
