Howdy all,

so today in Albuquerque we had a 2v2 team tourney (1 force org per team). 16 people showed, which was pretty darn good attendance for our area! In attendance were the following matchups:

Tyranids/Blood Angels
Blood Angels/SOB
Blood Angels/Imp Guard
Blood Angels/Space Wolves
Blood Angels/Necrons
Orks/IG
Eldar/Dark Eldar
Orks/Chaos

Me and my buddy jess decided to try and run 2 things we love in 1 list: mephiston and TWolf Calv. So, our list consisted as follows:

Total: 1999 (sorry didn't put unit points, late and didn't feel like calcing up the AM's again lol)

So heres a quick synposis of our games. A short play by play, nothing too in depth.

Game 1 vs Orks/Chaos

~List from what we saw:
1x Bigmek
2x Battlewagons w/ 2x Bigshoota, 1 rolla
1x trukk
7x Nobz, Painboy, 2 claws
20 'ard boyz
20 Slugga boyz
2 obliterators
3 rhinos full of 9 chaos marines (all 3 w/ plasma guns)
Chaos lord w/ undivided DW

Objective: After discovering the "artifacts", capture and control
BP objectives: Discover the first objective, Kill the other teams "highest" unit (nobz), your highest unit survives (1 TWC unit)

Top Turn 1: After giving us T1, we moved everything up. My dread podded in behind his marines, killed around 5. Shooting saw both wagons get exploded from side shots by the fangs. The dude failed exactly 1 pen on each wagon, my partner rolled well! All our objectives wound up being booby trapped and killed no models... meaning both objectives were in our opponents deployment zone
Bottom Turn 1: Stuff shuffled up and around. Marine guy forgets to smoke his rhinos. Obliterators turn and shoot my dread, immobilizing it.
Top T2: Everything moves up. In shooting, my melta from 1 squad blows a rhino. Longfangs pop 1 other rhino and the nobz trukk. Furioso fails on the third rhino (even on back armor :( ). In assault we're able to pull the disembarked marines and all 40 boyz into a massive combat. Mephhy 1 shots the big mek, marines chew a big hole in the boyz, TWcalv do too, and my PF sergeant in one squad insta kills the chaos HQ. After the huge multi-assault, they lose by 15 total. After fearless, all the orcs die/get run over, marines get run down too. All thats left are 2 oblits, 13 marines, nobz, and a rhino for our opponents.
Bottom T2: Stuff shuffles around. His marines slog to shoot longfangs. His other marines target whittled down AM squad. Nobz roll 2 to get thru terrain, wanting to hit the calv... Shooting sees the oblits kill 1 marine with a lascannon. Marines rapid fire fangs, killing 3. Other marines rapid fire a weaker squad of mine killing it down to just a priest and PW sarg. Assault sees the nobz run into meph... he kills 3 w/ str 10. His claws do... 4 wounds. He hit 7 times too! lucky me! They get run down.
Top T3: opponents concede, TO says if we can get to the objectives we get the massacre... we have 2 turns lol. I jump 2 squads on objectives to score the massacre.

Total VP: 5 (massacre, killed nobz, saved TWC)

Game 2 vs BA/Nidz

1x Dread w/ MM and fist

Objective: get flags to middle. each flag gives 2 VP. need 4+ more VP than opponents to massacre.
BP objectives: make opponents troops drop flag. 1 BP per drop.

Top T1: opponents steal initiative, move everything up. Shooting sees 1 marine pop.
Bottom T1: We score 1 flag. Shooting sees us kill 4 AM's and 17 hormagaunts (ML templates ftw). Dread toasts 7 genestealers with his fragcannon. Assault sees mephiston and 7 AM's wipe middle AM's with no casualties. TWcalv on right multicharge other AM's and D-co... taking 1 wound and killing 3 marines (chappy made all invuns). They stay stuck in. On left AM's and Twolf calv charge remaining horms. I make all but 1 save, Twolvs lose 1 wound. We wipe them out and steal their flag.
Top T2: Opponents move dread out to meet mine. Carni and HT move to meet us. Zoan shuffles back. Shooting sees... nothing die. Zoan scatters, ML fails. Dread pops the blood fist off my dread. Carni and HT shoot everything at Twolves out in open, killing 1 and wounding 2 others. Assault sees the dread fail to hurt mine, stealers fail to hurt me, and I stomp 2 with my feet. Twolves kill 4 more AM's and 1 D-co. They lose 2 wounds. AM's run away to board edge.
Bottom T2: We move around a lot... Mephhy gets a good fleet and can get to the AM's on the back of their board (only 3 left) who are holding the flag. Shooting sees ALL longfangs shoot the HT and kill it. Nothing else to shoot really... All my available AM's charge into the D-co to open up the TWC. We wipe all but 2 of them. They take down 2 marines and pass all fearless saves. My dread kills the last stealer, his dread pens and rolls a 1... ouch :( Mephhy kills the 3 AM's in back. Twolf calv charge the carnifex, doing 2 wounds. The carni opens up killing the 2 wounded calv... the Thunder hammer rolls 5 1's for his hits. lul. Locked in!
Top T3: Everything but the zoan and the tacs are in CC. Zoan moves, nothing else really. Shooting sees... mephhy cancel the zoans power, ML fails again. CC, Dco finally die, his dread fails to even hit me, I fail to glance. Carnifex wounds 3 times but my partner makes 2 SS saves and kills the fex under a flurry of 4 Thammer hits.
Bottom T3: We decide to finish the game. Mephhy bails my dread out of CC. Everything shuffles.
Top T4: Zoan shoots as does ML... failing to do anything. No assaults.
Bottom T4: Blow up the building tacs are in. Assault sees me kill 2 marines, he kills 1. Partner kills zoan in CC.
Top T5: He kills 1 marine, I kill 2... stays locked in.
Bottom T5: we called it for lunch (already had massacred)

Last Game vs Orcs/IG

This was our good buddies list that we were expecting to face... hopefully all our planning pays off!

Top T1: All boyz not protecting tanks move up. Shooting sees 2 longfangs in each pack die. I lose about 6 marines. Mephiston takes a ton of fire, after cover/saves only takes 1 wound... whew. Twolf calv gets hit by 3 manti blasts, but make all saves. Could be worse!
Bottom T1: My am's move up/run into more cover. Mephhy/Twolf calv move up. If we roll well on fleet we can hit the boyz/dread on thr right board side (they moved up 4" or so). Longfangs have to move into coheiziveness. Dread drop pods in right in front of soem boyz. Kills 7 or so between melta/frag. Assault sees us roll well for fleet and barely hitting home. Mephhy pens 3 times... rolls 2 2's and a 3. Dread swings back and fails to hit. Twolves kill 7 boyz, take 1 wound, 3 Thammer kills, 5 more die to fearless.
Top T2: Orcs on our left surround my lone dread... detta moves to see my AM's to pick some off. Shooting sees me make all cover my my dread, I lose my priest AM's to lots of high str fire. Lootas kill 1 fang in the back. I lose 5 more marines in another squad to battlecannons... I now only have meph, dread, pod, and a 5 and 2 man AM squad. Assault sees meph pen twice/glance once... a 3, 2 and 2 again! The dread actually does 1 wound this time, woot! T wolve calv fail miserably and kill 6 total orcs and take 1 wound... even after hammers. 3 more die to fearless. The other orcs assault my furioso and lose 3 guys after fearless (he whiffed his claw). The second Twolve calv loses 2 models to a manticore strike and are pinned :(
Bottom T2: All my AM's move up to bail my dread out! Everything else is stuck in or cant move. Assault sees me whittle down the middle orcs to 6 models and I lose nothing... they run, I can't catch em. Twolves clear more orcs, they're down to 11 now. Take 1 more wound. Mephhy kills the dread but takes 1 perils :( Its wrecked so he hides behind its arms between the calv combat. Our shooting the Deathwind killed 2 lootas... bleh.
Top T3: Orcs run 2 inches toward board edge. Other orcs move toward my large assault squad. WAAAGH is called. Shooting sees the lootas ping off my dread. The manticore wrecks it with a 6 and then a 5 :( Vendetta shoots EVERYTHING at mephiston... hes in cover due to the wreck/combat, and after all is said in done takes 1 wound. he has 1 left! Combat sees the orcs roll poorly for waagh and assault. They kill 4 marines, I kill 3 orcs and make my fearless save (I has thirst thank god!). Twolve calv wreck the last orcs. He also wrecked my drop pod with a scattered Bcannon as well.
Bottom T3: time for a turn around! My last 2 open AM's move up to assault russes. Twolve calv move to assault his back russes/lootas. Meph moves to wreck the stupid manticore. Back wolves (now unpinned) move to get to the detta. Shooting sees all the fangs miss or fail to do anything. Deathwind misses. Assault sees mephhy lay waste to the stupid manticore, the Twolve calv on the right shake the piss outta the detta. Other Twolves pen and only shake 1 russ. My 2 lonely AM's rush the russes... immobilizing (destroying) 1 and breaking the cannon off the second! way to go! Orcs wipe my last marine out. Lootas are wiped out as well.
Top T4: Orcs I beat down finally run off the board. Other orcs move toward longfangs. Detta turboboosts. Executioner turns to face meph. Shooting sees all plasma cannons but 1 whiff... and he wounds. There was an arguement about how the tank I wrecked was moved, but in the end I removed meph anyway after going to ground and rolling a 5... The other russ squadron shoots 2 heavy bolters into my last 2 AM's killing 1! Other orcs run some.
Bottom T4: My last model on the board moves into cover summore. Twolf calv shuffles. Shooting sees the vendetta make ALL its cover saves... Assault we wreck the last 3 russes.
Top T5: Orcs move toward my last AM, abandoning the idea of the longfangs (still 11 or so inches off) Detta shuffles some. Shooting sees the 2 man fang squad go to ground and absorb 3 lascannons and 9 HB shots... wow! The last 18 or so orcs shoot all their pistols at my last marine and do 1 wound... I make the save!
Bottom T5: We try for the massacre. All 6 remaining Twolves charge/wipe out the 18 orcs. We pen the detta once and roll... a 1.

To get a massacre we needed 5+ more KP's than our opponents. They got 6 KP's, we got 10. If we'd boarded em we would have gotten it :( Major win for this one.

In the end we recieved a total of 13/15 Victory points. We were pretty scared of how well mephhy/Twolves would work together, but they turned out to be dynamite! The anvil of the wolves combined with mephhys hammering skillz really worked well! After everything was said and done, here were the standings:

First: BA/Space Wolves
Second: BA/Sisters of Battle
Third: Orks/IG
Fourth: Eldar/DE
Fifth: BA/Nids
Sixth: BA/IG
Seventh: BA/Crons
Eighth: Orks/Chaos

We recieved a shiney $25 gift card which we combined to buy an old 7th ed Battle for Skull Pass box (we're starting fantasy armies)... but in the end it was a great feeling to know we beat the 1 army we feared!
