Hello all. My name is Mel, I am 21 and yes, I am female (I know there's not all that many girls into wargaming and modelling). I am new to the forum. I just found ya'll yesterday whilst lazily browsing through google photos of Warhammer models just 'cause I like to look at them and I hastily joined. Seems we'd have something in common.

I am however, not new to the world of Warhammer modelling. I have been doing it since I was 12. I have amassed a decent collection, but sadly not as large as I would've liked given the time frame as I had very little money to spend on them in my younger years. Nowadays however, good luck stopping me, but now I don't have much time to paint them as I have an 8 week old...I just can't win.

I remember my first paycheck ever (300-something dollars) went entirely to Warhammer in one shopping trip. Oh I was so happy (my paychecks are much larger now as I was 15 and working at Tim Hortons then). I haven't necessarily stuck to just one army to build, but I've managed to attempt to focus on only three - Tyranids, Chaos Space Marines, and Orks. I think Orks would have to be my largest. Alas, I have never battled as the only other person I know who does Warhammer is my hubby and he can't figure out the rules to save his life...but I'm hoping someday, someone in my way-to-small display cabinet will get their time to shine.

Perhaps I should click the submit button before I start going into my deepest darkest secrets......well, thanks so much for having me and I hope for some wonderful conversations, pictures and maybe????? in the off chance????? some battles.

Welcome! Agreed, unless you live in the middle of nowhere there has to be a FLGS, and SOMEONE there has to play 40k.

Greetings. My wife plays 40k as well - women aren't as rare as one might think, but they don't openly advertise because the resultant nerd-tosterone fueled PMs, posts, fan-clubs get annoying.

Orks are the bestest. Stick with them.

As for not knowing anyone who plays 40k - there's an answer for people like you and I who don't have a FLGS - its called Vassal! Check out www.vassal40k.info.

With Vassal, you can play a game with anyone from around the world. Skype and voicechat make it faster and easier than typed communication and everything is identical to a game on the table, with the exception that its in 2D instead of 3D. Its quite an acceptable substitute though.

Thank goodness for that pop-up glossary. I had no idea what FLGS was, but now that I know, I do have one. I just feel weird being in there doing anything but shopping. I also am worried that I'd be bothersome to the staff in there, especially if they're busy. I also feel kinda out of place (though I know we all have at least one interest in common) as at least where I am, I haven't noticed very many girls into this hobby and I've had bad experiences in rooms filled with only guys. *Raspberries* Men can be mean.

@Vindicator#9 - It was almost a 3 page intro by my hand as I have a tendency to keep yapping and yapping until I can physically yap no more. A stereotypical womans trait I know, but only about things I'm passionate about.

Oh no not saying that you are going to do all the talking for three pages its the "Welcome to dakka!" that will go on for three pages. Im married so i know what women are like and yes they can but i dont mind as i have selective hearing.
Alright now i am going to hide in my bunker and wait for the intro forum to clear out. *battens down the hatches*

We have loads of girls that go into the GW shop down by me. A few that play, but mostly only ones that paint.
