Hi everyone just wanted to give a little advertising to my
FLGS and post my results for the weekend. It was a good event with some very well painted armies and lots of tough lists brought by some very good players. I think there were 50 or so attending this particular event though for the 2000 points or less tournaments we tend to have tournouts of 60+ which is a lot for an
RTT but still a good time considering how cheap it is to attend. It is a comped event and it's held every other month with each tournament going up 250 points. At the beginning of the year it started at 1250 and will culminate in 2 months at 2500.

I win the roll to go first and decide it would be in my best interest to go first as he doesn't have too many vehicles to tank shock me around and i have fast enough mech to get in his way or push him off objectives later in the game. I deploy nothing, he deploys 2 of his big grey hunter squads on foot and his rune priest attached off center to the left about 16 inches up the board and in some terrain. He fails to seize.
Top of Turn 1
Movement
Everything I have trundles on or stomps its way on to the field. My nob bikers with my warboss attached turbo boost 23" up the right side, far away from the rune priest and those evil jaws to try and bait his cav unit. In support I send a squad of buggies up behind them and make sure they will be in
KFF range and behind them a squad of Kans for some extra rokkit love and 2 squads of gretchin set up camp across the board edge of that table quarter. Up the middle come my 2 battle wagons in a line with the nobs wagon first, followed by the boyz wagon that contains the
KFF. To the left of them I have my remaining squads of buggies and kans in
KFF range and behind them come the 2 squads of lootas in a line to light up whatever long fangs will present themselves and line up my remaining 2 squads of gretchin to block off the rest of my back edge and force the scouts to come from a short table edge.
Shooting
Kans and lootas run up a bit to get a better position and hopefully start shooting at decent targets.
Assault
Nothin yet
Bottom of Turn 1
Everything but his Scouts come on. From right to left: lord and cav come out to say hi to my bikers followed up by his remaining grey hunter squad with his 3 long fang packs lined up and directly behind them are the 2 razorbacks with the flamer units inside. The grey hunter units that started on the table shuffle around a bit.
Shooting
Living lightning against some buggies rips the gun off one and shakes the other 2, long fangs fail to see anything important as well as the razors. His cav run up a couple more inches behind a small bit of cover for a couple of them.
Assault
Nothing yet
Top of Turn 2
Thoughts: I've succeeded in baiting hit long fangs and cav onto a single flank with his priest and a large chunk of his army on the other so my nobs and boss can go to work. I know the cav will
ID a lot of stuff but if I can wipe enough of them out before my bikes eat it then hopefully I can torrent the remainder with shots and followup assaults/deff rollas and then whittle the rest of the army away with what I have left.
Movement
Buggies and Kans move into shooting range of the
TWC, and nob bikers move up 12 and reposition slightly to keep my warboss away from
str 10
ID. The battle wagons keep their front armor facing all the long fangs and scoot up 12" and the buggies that can't do anything this turn rush up 18" in the face of the gray hunters on my left to block their movement toward anything important.
Shooting
First it's rokkit time! I fire 3 kans and 3 buggies at the
TWC and his lord takes one on the chin thanks to a

. Next is 6 dakka guns and his lord rolls another

while a pup bites it and a
TWC takes a wound. Here's where I change my assault plan ever so slightly and hope it pays off.
My koptas fire ineffectually, my kans on the left take a run move and my lootas kill a few long fangs out of his left most squad of them and leave him with a heavy bolter and a missile.
Assault
It's just the bikers mixing it up for now but if it works then I'll be sitting pretty good for the rest of the game. I assault so that his thunder hammer and his lord are both pinned and can't get close to my warboss and put as many I4 attacks as possible at him. He passes counterattack and I let him roll first to see how things shake out a bit. He assigns only one
TWC to swing at him and manages to rend twice with a single guy, ouch. The rest of his attacks put a wound here and there. I swing back with my I4 and manage to stick a single wound on his lord and bam

again. No more lord

. His thunderhammer only wounds once and I make my 5+ invul. My power klaws combined kill 2 more
TWC and he passes leadership but now that the lord is out of the picture those
TWC are FAR less dangerous.
Bottom of Turn 2
Movement
Reserves: He gets his scouts and puts them onto my left short table edge to threaten my lootas and at least draw some fire after they eat a poor gretchin squad.
He positions his grey hunter squad that was sitting behind his
TWC so that they're ready to charge and help the struggling
TWC. But my boss is too far away to be charged by many. His grey hunters on my left are mostly blocked by my buggies and can't get anywhere to reinforce anything.
Shooting
Jaws is too far away to do anything so he living lightnings and fires a plasma gun at my kans and kills one while shaking another. The other squad of grey hunters kills a buggie that was blocking the way a bit and shakes the one that still had its gun. His long fangs go to work on my right squad of buggies and kill 2 and render the other one down to it's buggie chassis.
Assault
His grey hunter squad rushes in to try and save the remaining
TWC popping the banner to reroll 1s as well. His scouts charge a bunch of poor hapless gretchin and promptly eat them but roll very poorly to get into cover from the lootas. At the biker scrum he strikes first with 2
TWC and 3 grey hunters at my warboss and they all fail to make me fail my last save or wound at all (thank you t6). The rest of the nobs take a couple wounds and kill off my boss pole, and my regular guy. I attack the new arrivals with my remaining nobs and kill a couple grey hunters. My powerfist and banner bite it from his thunderhammer but my warboss replies by killing 1
TWC and my powerklaw wounds another. I lose by 2 and pass my leadership.
Top of Turn 3
I'm starting to feel confident and that I can handle the rest of his army and we just hit the 1 hour left mark and I think the turns will start speeding up from here.
Movement
I plow my battlewagons forward and tank shock a unit of long fangs and kill one with a deff rolla hit and disembark my nobs in front of both squads so I can sweep them off and start removing his troops as quick as possible (as it is troop units that can capture table quarters). My
KFF wagon keeps projecting is bubble of "don't kill anything". My remaining 2 kans on the left keep walking toward the greyhunter units and my left side buggie swings around to the right side of his grey hunter units to keep them from heading to support what little will remain of his right flank. My right side kans continue walking up and are in position to get shots at his razorbacks. Finally my gretchin move around a bit and try to get some grot blasta shots at those pesky scouts.
Shooting
One group of lootas shoots at the wolf scouts and thanks to some clutch
GtG 6+ saves 2 survive for the moment. The other group of lootas fire at a razorback and shake it. My group of rokkit kans on the left blow off the t/l Las from the other razorback. I drop a kombi-scortcha template on 2 groups of long fangs and kill 1 from a squad.
Assault
My nob squad hits 11 total long fangs and proceeds to wipe them to a man but just barely and take one wound in return and massacre move toward the greyhunters and remaining 2
TWC fighting the warboss and painboy. The grey hunters and remaining non-thunderhammer
TWC swing and do nothing, the painboy swings back and does nothing and then gets squished by the thunderhammer. My Warboss takes his shots at the
TWC and kills them off, he passes leadership just fine and piles in on my warboss.
Bottom of Turn 3
He's quickly running out of real threats in his army but starts to move things into capture range for both table quarters and his own home objective.
Movement
His weaponless razorback dumps it's 5 man grey hunter squad with flamer in front of my nobs on foot and then scurries off as they move in to drop a flamer and doubletap the nobs. His other razorback runs off into heavy cover and goes to claim his home objective while his 2 remaining untouched grey hunter squads start marching up the table around my silly little weaponless buggy. His grey hunters move up through cover trying to get into a couple table quarters that I don't have much in the way of troops in.
Shooting
His flamer and doubletap on my nobs scores 3 wounds through my 4+ and
FNP but doesn't actually kill anything. His grey hunters and rune priest bring my left kan squad down to a single shaken armless kan that I have glorious plans for.
Assault
His grey hunters cry as their only wound is saved by my warboss's armor and he passes leadership -2.
Top of turn 4
I begin the mopup and make sure I've got my secret objective of reducing his model count below half.
Movement
I tankshock his remaining 2 longfangs with a heavy bolter and a missile launcher and fail to kill them but explode the empty weaponless razorback behind them. My
KFF wagon scoots up and tank shocks the 5 man grey hunter squad that was out of it's box and doesn't kill any or run them off unfortunately so my boyz get out to deal with them and clear the table quarter. My nobs do well on their difficult terrain and get close enough for a good charge on the grey hunters fighting my warboss. I also get my armless kan ready to go kick some teeth in hehehe

. My full squad of kans move up for some shots on what little there is to shoot on that side of the table. The gretchin also get as close as possible to the scout squad without giving them cover so I can hopefully not have to waste another group of loota fire at them.
Shooting
My Gretchin deliver! No more scouts so both squads of lootas turn their attention on the grey hunters with the rune priest in it and light it up pretty good, killing a few hunters and dealing a wound to the priest. I shoot what I can at the 5 man grey hunter squad just to make sure it's dead dead after assault and kill 2 and they pass leadership. I declare my waaagh and make a decent run move for my nobs to make sure everyone gets in with room to spare.
Assault
Boyz go and do their job with only losing 2 of their own to the remaining 3 grey hunters. My warboss finally bites it to a rend from his mark of the wolfen but the nobs sweep them off the table for their trouble. Kan charges in and kicks the dome off of that rune priest with only getting shaken in return

. They pass leadership. My nobs make their move to spread out a bit, my boys do the same and are ready to get back in the
KFF wagon.
Bottom of turn 4
We discuss what our secret objective is and he's not sure I have mine yet and I'm pretty sure I do but I haven't bothered to count but with another turn to go I'm certain I can get it.
Movement
He moves his untied squad of grey hunters toward my lootas in hopes to tie the game with table quarters and objectives.
Shooting
His razorback shoots and does nothing
Assault
His mark of the wolfen rends my poor armless kan to bits and gets a good consolidation move toward the middle of the board to try and contest whatever quarter he can.
Top of turn 5
Movement
Boyz load up and speed off to go punch something like the 5 grey hunters in the razorback. The empty wagon gets ready and clips his remaining razorback and deff rolla wrecks it but isn't close enough to his home objective to contest quite yet. My nobs plop their butts down and act like the scoring unit they are.
Shooting
Lootas do what they can and reduce the smaller grey hunter squad that had the rune priest down to 3 men and the terminator.
Assault
It's all dead what I was killin!
Bottom of Turn 5
He shuffles around a bit and gets what little remains of his army into what he thinks will get him a tie for the game and rolls to see if the game goes on. It does and he concedes as he simply has nothing to do about it once I wipe his remaining grey hunters off his objective and take it for myself or even just contesting it will get me the win without question.
Overall it was a fun game but once the Lord was dead I never felt out of control of anything important. I get myself a full 20/20 points and move on to the next round!
