This thread is really only for those who have had a good look at the new DE Codex.

Anyone noticed the artwork for the new Grotesques? Instead of the spindly old humans of the old codex, they now have the impression (and stats!) of drug-fueled Ogryns. Instead of having to wait for GW to possibly release a model for them, would you guys think that Renegade Ogryns would look good for a Grotesque.

I've always loved these models but until now have had no reason to include them in an army. Do you think that if I modelled on some drug-inducers and enhancers etc, that they would serve as a suitable Grotesgue?

Thanks,

You just want a scale model of House, MD for the WH40k, don't ya?

Well, the Grotesques always looked like zombies with little switchblades for hands. Why not try melting a few old plastic warriors in a microwave/under a head gun and mush up their features, then stick needs inside their body and paint the ends green.

I'd just buy some Vampire count zombies and green stuff bits on.

I'd just buy some Mantic Ghouls (50 for 30 pounds) and green stuff more Ghouls on, using the Tzimisce from Vampire: the Masquerade and that "The Human Centipede" thing as inspiration.

Yeah a unit of those FW renegades at 18 quid a pop sounds good.

Yeah good point. I was just thinking that they would really show off the S5 and T5 rather than the standard human-size models. I suppose I could go for the Vampire Counts model idea and bulk them up a bit. Thanks for your ideas.

It is a pity.
See why you liked them as they are tasty.
The IG conversions are good as well and may be a more economical route, but still pricey.

Well, its clear that not many have seen or heard about the new DE codex

Grotesques are no longer man-sized, so suggesting using mantic or GW zombies or ghouls doesn't work.

Grotesques, for those who don't know, are now ogryn-sized models that are T5. I'd suggest using minotaurs, rat-ogres, and ogryn to make some bizarre combinations.

Wracks are the new man-sized 'grotesques' in the new codex. For Wracks, zombies and ghouls would make really good bases.

It does if you represent that ogryn-sized model as an ogryn-sized mass of slaves stitched together instead of one ogryn-sized slave.

I was looking at the new Rat Ogres out of the new Fantasy Boxset. I really like how they look and fit the appearance of being 'worked' on. Add a circular base and you're all set.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

if your going FW, what about the plague ogryns? those look nicley mutilated and distorted, add some dark eldar gubbins and chem dispensers via putty, remove the nurgle horn, and could be really nice.
