so, what do people think of the chapter benefits in deathwatch? i am but an egg when it comes to chapter lore, but some of these "racial abilities" that the different chapters get seem... a little odd.

take the blood angels. they go on and on about how good they all look after their transformation. "their restructured bodies have taken on a haunting beauty..." one would think they would get a boost to fellowship, or something. but they get +5 agi. okay, well, fellowship doesn't explicitly say it is about how good you look, even if that is a likely factor in just how well one could charm someone, but moving on...

The Space wolves. they talk about how blunt they can be, how course their interactions with others can be. +5 fellowship.

so, what do you think? are the bonuses for the chapters in the books appropriate? and has anyone thought about / seen any other write-ups for the other chapters of space marines out there? or what bonus' they may or may not have? is there any word of a book of space marine chapters from the makers?

+5 fellowship , because a drunk space wolf is either the most jovial or the most angry of the marine

e.g mr mood maker

all BA is trained in CC, extensively
i am guessing that the first thing they are trained is to run faster to get sword to face faster, and not getting shot in the process, hence speed

A Fellowship Bonus for BA would be pretty odd, given their propensity for going psycho a'la Death Company. +5 Agility makes some sense for them,as Agility is the DH/DW equivalent to Initiative, and many BA units are known for getting Furious Charge.

+5 Fellowship for Space Puppies also makes sense given their fluff. SW are widely known to be the Chapter that gets along best with and shows the most loyalty to normal human allies. They are also well known for working with other Chapters. In fact,in the old 3rd ed SW mini-codex,Logan Grimnar had a special rule that in games using allies, any IG or SM model could use his Leadership characteristic.

The only one that I really have a problem with is Ultramarines. The chapter isn't really known to excel at anything...so just put +5 in whichever two characteristics are optimal for your class build.

Blood angels agility? Eh, their Primarch could fly, not surprised. As for Space Wolves, well, have you ever spoke to a wolf? Charming, there just charming.

Honestly I think they did that for people that want to use other Chapters. It makes it a lot easier to explore another chapter without them just being a successor to one of the other big 4. I like it alot actually cuz lets face it we dont want to roleplay the Ultras lol. Joking

In a few months time it won't matter because we'll have our Create'a'Chapter rules and you can do whatever you want.

Yeah.. just make sure the net bonus's are the same. TBH in an RPG if its a proper Rpg then a slight imbalance on party wont matter as long as each player has a chance to shine (so what brother Ug-Lee has 6 fellowship, he kicks ass in combat and is good at making things expode!)

The next Deathwatch book, Rites of Battle, which is the 'big one' as far as supplement books (in the same way as the Inquisitor's Handbook and Into the Storm are indispensable for Dark Heresy and Rogue Trader players), will have the Create'a'Chapter rules, as well as a specific set of rules for the Imperial Fists and, it appears, a Deathwatch Chaplain as a new career option.

And that's along with full vehicle rules, including Deathwatch Dreadnoughts!!!
