Im a marine moving to okinawa in january. I love 40k and fantasy and was looking for a local gaming store or club or even just a group of guys to game with? Plz tell me there are some 40k nerds in oki!!!

The schilling center on Kadena has a 40k club. They played often when I was stationed there, I believe they meet every Saturday. I'd show up sometime mid-afternoon and check it out. Fantasy from what I saw wasn't huge (I was a magic fanatic at the time so never played 40k). I know theres a few japanese stores on the north side of the island that run japanese 40k... but doubt they speak too much english lol

Yeah, the 'Table Top Warriors' meet in the Schilling Rec Center on Saturdays. They're a good group of guys, with a lot of 40K being played, as well as other games being represented. Steve should still be the president...

As for buying minis, I highly reccomend using thewarstore.com instead of buying stuff from anywhere on the island. The store (only saw one) has no space to play, and has a high mark up of prices. If you have to have it right then and there, then the Silver Bullet (the store's name) is fine, but Neal at the Warstore is more than willing to ship just about anything to an FPO AP address. I know that over my 5 years of being in Okinawa, I probably put one of his kids through a year of college.

What command you heading to?

MALS-36. Pretty excited to head out there but refuse to abandon this hobby. Thanks for the advise Ill start getting in contact with the warstore now just for prep.

BTW what are the big armies represented there? I only have room to bring one of my armies and dont want to show up every sat with something everyone else already has

Friend of mine was stationed there for the Air Force. Plenty of military types play 40k there.

Agreed. I have a brother down there right now (I'm up at Misawa) and he plays. Just go to the center on Saturdays. Last I heard they play most of the day.
