Mission: Seize Ground
Deployment: Pitched Battle

Deployment:
The daemons win the roll off and let the blood angel's go first. The blood angels decide to combat squad and deep strike everything.

Blood Angels Turn #1: Crickets

Daemons Turn #1: I select as my initial wave, 1 unit of plague bearers, 2 units of hounds, the crusher's, and the 3 daemon prince's. And that's the wave I get. I land the bearers and crusher's on my objective, the hounds go down in the middile and the 3 prince's drop to support the hounds. One prince deviates 11 inch's out into the center of the board, easy pickings since he's now separated from the rest of my forces.

The daemon objective is the downed blight drone, the blood angel's objective is the communications array. My initial drop is meant to defend my objective and try to concentrate my fast movers so I can re-act to wherever the blood angels decide to drop.

Blood Angels Turn #2: An absolutely abysmal descent of angels befals my opponent. He gets in one librarian plus melta squad, one sanguinary priest plus melta squad, a 5 man squad with flamer and lightning claws and two of the 5 man squads with nothing in it. The librarian and friends deviate onto the blood crushers and are lost to the warp. The priest and his squad drop and douse thee separated daemon prince with melta doing 3 wounds (I failed all my saves).

Daemons Turn #2: I get in 2 great unclean one's, one squad of plague bearers, and 1 squad of flamers. The great unclean ones drop towards the center of the table, the plague bearers land on his objective. The flamers drop on target right next to the sanguinary priests squad and kill all of them. The wounded daemon prince and the flesh hounds assault and kill all but the flamer from the lightning claws squad who run's away.

This is the right hand side of the table. You can see my "blood crushers" defending my objective. And my other forces move more towards the center.

This is the left hand side of the table where all of the action for the round occured. Right in front of the plague flies (flamers) there was a priest and 5 man squad, and the last remnant from the hounds/prince fight is right next to the flamers.

Blood Angels Turn #3: He gets in his terminators, a priest with lightning claw 2 flamer squad, and the other two basic 5 man squads. The flamers drop on the flesh hounds. One basic squad drops in the back to try to sneak onto his objective, and the other drops in the center to back up his other assault squads. He kills 3 of the flesh hounds and then combi-assaults the great unclean one and flamers, killing all the flamers and remaining locked with the guo. Bolt pistol's shoot down the last wound on the daemon prince. The terminators deviate 9 inch's to go off the table and go back into reserves.

Daemons Turn #3: I get in one squad of flamers. They drop next to the sanguinary priest and kill off the priest and the squad. The great unclean one kills off 4 of the assault marines and the last one runs away. At this point I've done shuffling so that I should be able to assault him if he drops anywhere near either of the objectives. The reduced flesh hounds assault a 5 man assault squad and whiff, luckily the blood angels whiff back, only losing one hound.

This is the right hand side of the table. I've still got my units spread out to cover and be able to counter-assault any incoming blood angels.

Here's the left side which still had most of the action. Again there used to be a squad in front of the flamers. The hounds are getting whittled away. And the great unclean one is chasing after the last surviving blood angel from his squad.

Blood Angels Turn #4: In comes the librarian and the last melta squad and the terminators. They drop in the bottom right near to my objective. Shooting see's him put one wound on the blood crushers. He assaults the flamers and remains locked in combat with the remaining flamer. His other squad finishes off the hound.

Daemons Turn #4: I drop the last squad of plague bearers to support my objective. I assault the librarian and his squad with the blood crushers who kill them all. I then combo-assault with the flesh hounds and the daemon prince. I use the hounds to block off access to all the models except the priest so that the daemon prince can assault the priest. I also have the hounds assault through cover so that they strike last (this is so that I can kill the priest at init 5 and the hounds will get their attacks at init 1 with the terminators not getting any fnp). The prince kills the priest and the hounds bring down one of the thunder hammer terminators. He finish's off the last flamer.

The crushers ate one squad. And you can see how the daemon prince is coming in from the far edge on the terminators, he's standing about where the priest was. Only by using the hounds to block off the rest of the squad was I able to get the charge on the priest with the daemon prince.

Blood Angels Turn #5: He continues to slide a squad along his board edge. His 2 assault squads assault my 2 plague bearer squads, minimal casualties and everyone is locked in hth. The flesh hounds pull down another terminator, and lose 2 of their own (the daemon prince takes a no-retreat wound).
Daemons Turn #5: I have a daemon prince assault into one of the assault squads tying down my plague bearers breaking the squad and freeing up the plague bearers to run back to my objective. The blood crushers charge into the terminator combat and at the end of the phase there is one assault terminator left.

We roll for another turn and get it, but my opponent concedes and we call the game. The daemon's win with 2 objectives to 0.

Nicely done up nurgle army.

I've definitely noticed that it's been a bad week for Chaos...

I dont see any advantage for deepstriking the Blood Angels army against a daemon army with little shooting. Just because you can doesn't mean you always should. If he had started with the bulk of his army on the table I think he could have done a lot better.

actually gotta agree with this one, it's not like a mech list where you can KO some big point sinks and gain a lead.

Thanks, it's a work in progress, but I'm liking it a lot so far.

I think my opponent got a little overzealous. He was ribbing me before the game about how his army deep strikes better than mine. Also there's always the rampant fear of what flamers do to marines on the table that are not in metal coffins. I think at the very least he should have started everything in normal reserves and just come on from his board edge.

Bad play by the BA player. Should've kept his army together and on the board (giving them some "space"). By dropping after you, he's just asking to be assaulted, and no one wants to get assaulted by daemons. That's a recipe for a table.

The best way to counter a template besides being in a transport is to spread the models in a squad out so they are all two inches apart and don't place them in a line. They will still take a hit or two but it's minimal this way then next turn you can shoot and/or assault the Flamers.

Gotta love instant karma.

Nothing better than the loudmouth in the store telling you why his army is so great (not saying this was your opponent, just the hypothetical TFG) then proceeding to getting spanked. Even better if it's in a tourney, because people like that can't stand to have others know they they're not doing well.

@grayspark: thanks

@puma713: We're actually really good friends to the ribbing was friendly in nature. But karma sure was a bitch, he went from odds on getting 75% in the first turn to only getting 25%. Plus then to have 2 mishaps to my non was just icing on the cake.
