Well, I didn't join DakkaDakka just for reading posts, so here is some pictures of the first dreadnought I've ever painted ("finished" today):
conscructive critisism is welcomed, I need it to get better

The reason its no text on him is because I haven't decided his name, or the chapters name yet
Also; wether or not he is completely done I don't know. Every timee I sit down by the table with all the Warhammer 40K stuff I always spot something that needs doing on him

And the five marines I've painted so far from the Assault On Black Reach set, the one with the knife is from a seperate box

(If the images turned out immensly huge, I will see if I can fix that, my camera does that somtimes

Looks to be pretty clean work.. the flocking on the dread looks nice. perhaps some very light drybrush hightlighting of the edges/corners of the dread with a slightly light red. This may bring out some nice details.. Like you can practice on the red on the feet..would bring out some nice details on your marines helmets too.. The grey can be hightlighted with a lighter grey..

Either paint the black barrel holes in the dreads and marines guns or use a pin vice and drill them out.

Im not a fan of black but your army is looking really good. For a first time painter you're doing an awesome job. Your paint job is very neat so you can't go wrong really.

Careful with how thick your paint is. Just a little water and it can look a lot better. But maybe its just me reading your photos wrong?

My only crit is the eyes. Maybe make them stand out more. A bright green? Remember people focus on the face of a mini first.

Personally, I like to gloss the base. But thats just my taste.

Keep up the great work! Looking really good.

Nice clean paintjob and an original colour scheme.

This is good work for your first time. You have an eye for color too. Keep it up!

High quality game pieces, very impressive for first ever! Many long time gamers do not have as nice a standard!

EDIT: Constructive criticism, use a front light when you take your pictures, and generally more lighting.

I agree with everything he said, especially the lighting. I want to see your miniatures better because it looks like an impressive job. But I can see clean straight lines and that is already a 7 out of 10 in my book.

i agree with everyones comments on the lighting, just a personal preference, i like to see barrels bored out...at least on larger weapons like meltas and HBs all it takes is a 1/4 inch deep hole...and paint the cavity black or a gunmetal color...but otherwise, A+ paint job LD

A lot more positive things than I had excpected

About the Light: Yes, I know, I will take some pictures in a different room with better lighting

About drilling barrel holes: I will hopefully get a hobby drill thingy for christmas, I've tried just holding the actual drill... thing, but that gives me blisters . So either I get one for christmas, or I will buy one.

About higligthing: I need more variations of red and blue to do it properly But that can easily be remedied

Anyway: Thanks for the positive feedback, it's good to hear it from someone thats honsest and has seen better, not just family and friends that want to be nice
