I've had these things sitting on my shelf for almost a year now (still unfinshed, mind you, but that's the way my projects tend to go) and figured that someone on here would appreciate having some non-Imperial, not-yet-ruined, certified Xenos terrain. I based the design on the Eldar Aspect Shrine from the original Dawn of War game. I've had plans for some of the other buildings, but just have so many projects going that they're taking a back burner in a planning notebook somewhere in my shelf of things-to-do.
After
printing the template full size, the construction is pretty simple:
1. copy the templates onto stiff posterboard or matte board.
2. use template to copy shape to 1/2" insulation foam and cut out
3. smooth rough edges of foam with sandpaper, taking care not to breathe in foam dust (it'll kill ya, I swear)
4. pin peices together using toothpicks or straight pins and glue with wood glue
5. lightly coat model with lightweight joint compound or plaster, then sand to smooth shape
6. glue applique gems from craft store in place
7. do a better job painting than I did and use some kind of sepia wash over a bone-white for typical Eldar color scheme
That crunchy looking stuff around the gems is superglue - reacted that way to the slightly damp compound - but after a bit of painting, I'll just say that it's the crystal continuing to grow around the bone.
Put three or four of these on an otherwise building-free table and you've got yourself an Eldar themed table.

Whatcha think?
