Hey Everyone,

So after years of interest my girlfriend surprised me with the Assault on Black reach Kit. I thought I would post some of my work and get some feedback. I have had no experince with minis before this but have painted as a hobby (oils/ Water colors)
But I would love some feedback so far on my work.
Oh ya before I started I watched hours of tutorials. Wanted them to look good for me first army

Thanks and enjoy!

I love your basing, really well done.

The figures look good too. You may want to consider drilling out the muzzles on your guns if you can.

pretty darn nice man,
looks great !
From here on in the only improvement is gonna come with practice, practice and practice
my only points of critique would be:
- painting eyes on minis is pretty hard, so sometimes they look better with no eyeballs, and just some wash slapped over their face, otherwise you kinda get that, crazy deluted stare
- the shaven hair, also on the sarge, looks a bit ... flat. you can get a better effect, bit stippling it on little by little, but then again, thats all practice

anyway, great job man, keep it up

Your previous painting experience shows with these minis. The basing is perfectly done and the colors are nice and clean. I see you like the classic looking bolters instead of the modern ones.

The weakest link here is your Ork. The skin shading is not smooth in transition from shadows to highlights, it's too easy to see that you painted it in layers.

Awsome work B-Dizzle, I would never have guessed it was your first go at painting minis. I actually really like your ork skin, love the contrast and grubby look, top job!

Thank you for all of the postive Feedback! All of your insights and coments have been very helpful

- As for the paints I bought. My gf bought me about 8 basic paints includng - Ultramarine Blue, codex grey, Goblin Green... etc. Then before I started painting I went out and I think I bought about 13 more... these were foundation paints and Variations of other colors... Regal blue, Green foundation, Space Wof grey, And a few washes - Asurman blue, Badab Black (Great Wash), Flesh wash

- For the Termy Face I Primed in Black, then I painted the eyes, Then Based the face in codex grey ( Leaving some areas black. Then I did multiple layers of water'd down white leaving some black/grey showing on the edges (I found the white very hard to work with). Then A light wash of badad black on the cheeks.
-The eagle was done with a prime of black, then a layer of bleached bone, wash with Badab, Dry brush with bleached bone, heavy dry brush with white (simple but looks very good!)

Your Ultramarines are great, may I ask how you painted the blue?

Thanks again for the kind words everyone!

As for how I painted my marines.

I tried two different styles before settling on one.
My first attempt was Regal (base), Dry brush, ultramarine, Then highlight ultra with skull white

My second attempt and the one I settled on is:
Base Mondarian Blue, Wash with Asuman Blue, Dry brush Ultramarine blue, Dry brush Ultramarine blue/ space wolf grey, then finishing with a highlight of straight Space wolf grey
