Recently I was putting together a d20 BESM game for my roleplaying group. I wanted to use xenogears as a backdrop for the campaign. So, looking online for some Xenogears info, I realized that it was just released on the PSN last Tuesday! This is great news, since I sold my copy off a few years ago for $100.00! I needed the cash at the time, but I regretted selling it.

So has anyone else played this game? Do you plan on playing it for the first time or again on the PS3? As soon as my gamestop is open today, I am heading out to get some points!

I loved Xenogears! The combat system was interesting, the music was great, and the 'Gears' were awesome.

I don't know if the world is quite large or detailed enough to base a tabletop game off of it, but it was quite an awesome game, for what it was. One of my many favorites on the original PlayStation.

I will definitely buy it again on the PSN for my PSP when I have the money, as I also sold it years ago. The battle system was awesome, the cutscenes were pretty cool, and the storyline actually brought up relevant topics. The only complaint I have is that the characters themselves weren't all that memorable.

Pain is an illusion of the senses, Despair an illusion of the mind.

I sold most of my miniatures, and am currently working on bringing my own vision of the Four Colors of Chaos to fruition

You just got to think outside the box some. Considering you can add space to the campaign, the game can be essentially even larger than a typical D&D game. I am still not sure how I am going to do it, but the lack of detail can always be filled in.

As for memorable characters, I can agree with you. The most memorable characters for me were ID and Grahf, both of which had small roles when compared to the characters in the party.

I loved it but never got to beat it, I picked it up when it came out the other day, just haven't played it yet. I also got Vagrant Story, which is one of my all time favorite rpgs from that era.
