Hi,
Im thinking about building my first diorama. The general concept is a few dwarf miners doing what they usually do deep in some mine.
To see what my options are Im looking for models of dwarf miners doing their work (as my sculpting skills are next to none).
Anybody seen any interesting miners models... (not in battle stance or similar).
Cheers,
mozo

Well, it seems to me that a battle stance for a dwarf with a pick axe would be much the same as a dwarf swinging a pick axe into the wall of a mine shaft, no?

All from mid-late '80s and you'll often see them for sale.

It may be of no use to you, but some years ago there was a fairly large diorama in WD (in fact, i think there were 2 seperate ones) done by an italian (I think) some one may remember more, but it was pretty special, and had alot of older minis in it-may give you some ideas.

It was an entire dwarf mining town, complete with distillery, pit head, etc

There's this diorama that won Gold in the '99 UK Golden Demon Battle Scene category...

Thanks for the replys.

Actually I think that it depends a lot on the particular model. Some of them may look great fe. a two handed overhead pickaxe swing, on the other hand some of them wont look natural. The other thing is, that most of models comes in armor... Lets say that helmets are acceptable... but lads mining in chainmail or plate (not mentioning the shield )? That seems unlikely.

Realy nice models. I will definitely use some of them, if I find them.

Yup. I have seen those. Will use some of them for sure.

I am also thinking about those http://sciborminiatures.com/en_,shop.php?art=985 .
But they will need some converting to get rid of the rifle and the torch, as I dont want any open fire sources.

fairly large diorama in WD

Ill probably try to look in some archives in spare time.

Thanks again.
