Hey people,

I thought I'd paint myself a squad of marines and I like the Sons of Orar colour scheme the best from what I've seen. I haven't painted since I was a kid and I thought I'd try to get some feedback after my first marine in case there's something obvious I'm missing. This guy still needs some touch ups, his Omega symbol and I don't even know where to start with the base. Any kind of feed back and/or tips would be great. What do you folks think? Cheers!

Great painting, but whats with the lime green purity seal though?

Dwarves-about 2000 points, most unpainted. Kill me now.

In ur base, sniping ur doodz

looks great, I would recommend a thrakka green wash on the purity seal, just so it doesn't attract too much attention.
You can put your pics on the dakka gallery, and from there link them to here very easily.

On the next mini, try a blue shade on the white details over grey. You might find it an easier transition to make, and sits well next to red. Greys next to red can sometimes dirty it up. That said, progress is good - a lot better than my return to painting! ( started again in jab after a decade break)

For your touch ups, don't be tempted to pot paint as the surface texture will be noticable. a couple of thin layers can cover a multitude of sins!

You've picked two insanely annoying colours to work with and achieved good results. Red has coverage issues, and white is a nightmare to work with! Well done.

Thanks!

I guess I did the seal green to match the eyes and I'll eventually do the glass in the bolter scopes the same. I'll try that wash to push them back a bit, same with the blue wash for the whites. I appreciate the feedback!

Phayse, I've got you beat. It's been well over 20 years since I've painted!

As a first mini in a while that's pretty damn good- much smarter than my first efforts! I actually quite like the bright green seals, makes for a nice change from the red, which wouldn't stand out much.

The skills come back fast, which is something for which I'm really grateful. Learning material is a hundred times better than it was as well!

As far as seals go, I'm rocking purple. A lot.

I was looking at the blood angels in your gallery, really sweet work! What did you use for shading in the white?
