Well, after having them for a while, I thought it was time to give my boys a photoshoot...

First, a little fluff...

Planet Meridian is an industrial hive world and the capitol of Subsector Aurelia in the Korianis sector (yes, DoW II). The Meridian 17th are highly trained in urban combat and siege warfare and typically are assigned to campaigns on highly-developed worlds as urban pacifiers and spearhead full-scale invasions of even the largest cities.

Standard Infantry squad

Vet squad with special weapons

Melta vet

Plasma vets

Flamer

Medic

Good ol' Bessie...

Hellhound

Chimera

Standard LR Battle Tank and Demolisher. Nos Victum Vicus ("We Conquer the Streets") = the motto of the Meridian 17th.

Heavy Weapons team w/ autocannon.

Manticore

Vendetta

Valkyrie w/ rocket pods

Straken, Company Commander, Creeeeed!, Yarrick, and my Officer of the Fleet and Astropath. Just in case I feel the need, the need for CREEEEEEEED!

And it all comes together. Ladies and gentlemen, the Meridian 17th!

And no, this is not my entire force. I just didn't feel like getting EVERYTHING out (do you really need to see all six of my LRs and my other basilisk?). That, and I have a s--tload more regular guardsmen that need to get done.

However, when its ALL DONE, and I find a table big enough, then I will post a master pic of my entire force.

Sadly, I can't take full credit for the painting. This army was a two-man job. I did all the vehicles, and a friend (who has a steadier hand than I do) did all the infantry.

Excellent work.

I will say that at first look, the Medic looks like he has a roll of TP in his hand.

I know. Part of me thought of assembling him with HW team legs just as a joke.

Nice color scheme. Urban Camo with the black plates and then the dark dusty grey/blue on the vehicles, very cool. Nice work.

Testors custom decal sheets. I actually prefer them over the GW ones. They go on easier, and they don't tear very easy when going on.

And i hope you didnt glue the guns on everything

I know better than that. The weapons on the LRs, Hellhounds, and HW teams are completely interchangeable.

No. They're from the Forgeworld Valkyrie transfer sheet

http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/VALKYRIE-TRANSFER-SHEET.html

Amusing thing is they shipped it to me in a BOX. I only ordered 1 sheet. I would have been perfectly fine with just an envelope and a board to keep it from bending, and they did that...and threw it in a box.

Great looking force there tiberius, they look even better in person. We'll have to have Paul bring his camera setup to the store again for a group shot of all the boys.

I'm not an IG fan but this could change my mind, if not for the colour scheme than anything else and the best painted I've seen for ages.

How did you seal those FW valkyrie transfers? Mine just kept lifting off, and when I used spray varnish to seal them they clouded over.

I had a similar problem. Apparently FW transfers don't react well with sealants. I tried to use Testors dulcotte matte finish and I went through two skulls and a wing pattern. Finally, the second wing pattern didn't rot off like the last one (but, if you look closely at the left-side view of the wing, you can see some bubbling). The skull and cherub I just left un-sealed.

On the subject of sealants, for the infantry, I used Krylon Crystal Clear (flat) acrylic, which, IMO, is the BEST sealant for models available. In fact, if you look the pics and notice how the minis (especially the armor plates) catch the light so well, that's all thanks to it. REALLY makes everything pop out. Only $3 at Wal-Mart. Only drawback is it makes your models smell like gas for a week...

Nice, very similar to a color scheme I was deciding on for my own IG. I prefer the urban look of the IG much more than the green/khaki look. Nice work!

In the future, I'd recommend getting yourself a bottle of Micro Sol and Micro Set for applying your decals. They help adhere the decal to the surface, and eliminate the appearance of the negative space in the decal (the part with no ink, basically just the clear background part). Unfortunately, that aspect of the decals really seems to stand out on your vehicles (LR's in particular) and diminishes an otherwise decent paint job.

In the battlefields of the 41st millennium, with explosions going off all around you, and monstrous insects, robot skeletons, and big green monsters trying to kill you, bringing a roll of TP is not a bad idea...
