Hi! I recently entered a Painting contest focused on Pre-Heresy World Eaters. I didn't win. But I am really proud of my entry none-the-less!
Here are some pictures of the finished model:

Thanks for looking!

That's an impressive amount of gore ... nice splatter! Always did like pre-Heresy World Eaters and you've done them justice.

Excellent work! Is it just the camera that makes the blood look hot pink, though?

That's awesome! We actually have a talking My Little Pony at home, and I have vowed to do just that if it doesn't shut up!!! Funny though, now that I think of it, I haven't seen it around for a while! Hmmm

Thanks all for your kind words! But I mostly did it just for fun, didn't even think I'd do as well as I did, and I can't wait until the next contest!

Wow that's a lovely model, great paint job and he looks absolutely brutal! Any plans to extend him into a squad?

He looks good, but I think the blood needs some more depth. I would some darker red splatter so it's not all one color. Right now it kinda looks like he went apeshit on a red paint can.

He looks great, good job!

And I also liked the pixelated "ground". Very... Doom-esque.

Neat.

What model is the bare arm from?

Also, how was the blood done?

@Pacific: Thanks! It's my best paint job to-date...I just hope I can keep up this level, and improve even! I'm not holding my breath though. And yes, eventually, I want to expand this into a whole army! Most likely a Blood Angels count-as Army, unless a better codex comes out in the next few years that would represent them better.

@Darth Bob: You are correct, there needs to be some more depth, but this was my first attempt at realistic blood splatter (I actually did research!) I was going to start out with a darker red, for kind-of dried up blood, and then a bit lighter, then a few splatters of bright red for really fresh stuff, but I didn't want to screw it up. So I will go back over it at some point and do just that. Thank you for your critique. I honestly do appreciate it! It makes me try harder!

@Destrado: Thanks!

@Popsicle: The arm is from an AoBR Slugga Boy Ork. I was going to use a Nob arm, but it was just too big! If I do something similar later on with Terminators, I might use Nob arms. As for the blood splatter, I Googled splatter images, and then did a practice splatter on a plastic lid to get a feel for it. It actually looks much better in person, although I still want to go over it with different shades of red like I said earlier.

Here is the lid I practiced on: You might be able to see that I used a lighter shade of red on the "thicker" areas of blood to show that it wasn't dry yet, but I failed to do that on the final model 'cause I chickened out, I didn't think I could pull it off without screwing it up.

The Top Left splatter is supposed to be arterial spray, Top Right, Chainaxe splatter and the Bottom, a spot where a large chunk of something bloody (brains?) hit and slid off.

Thanks everyone for your comments and especially your critique!
