My friend Raven recently finished painting a custom Black Templars Marshal for me. It looks simply amazing and I had to post it on here! It's all freehand, still needs to be based, but that's mostly because I have not decided on a style yet.

*nerd alert*In my instructions I basically told her that if I was in the 40k universe that I would want to be this character and to go all out on it.

Very nice, the freehand is quite impressive.

Some criticism however…

The white seems very thick and pasty and in some places the gold ran "out of the lines" and is noticeable upon close inspection also th gold on the axe looks a bit clunky in some places. Also I don't care for the gold brushed onto the red ribbons and I think his belt should have been painted instead of left black.

These are minor faults however and I hope your friend Raven will grace us with more examples of her work.

Yes, yes, "THIN YOUR PAINTS!!" lol
My paints are rather old, and were a little difficult to work with on this particular model. 'Tis no excuse, though!! I shall keep your criticism in mind for the next model he has lined up for me. I would definitely change the ribbons, axe and belt if Ryan requested it changed. (I meant to change the ribbons, but decided to leave them. Being colorblind kinda.. sucks for painting red..) The axe was a pain in the ass to do, and felt that I just wanted to get it done. Impatience is the downfall of many a good model painter.
Thank you again for your opinion!

I like it, looks like a gothic era triptych, or any similar enameled or gold leaf woodcut.

I love the freehand writing on the inside of the shield - reminded me of a crib sheet.

It looks very striking all told .. nicely done.

I love how he has "abhor the witch" right on top of the inside of his shield, along with a bunch of other writing. It's like, it's his cheat sheet or something.

Don't like the Terminator arm on a PA model, but otherwise that looks quite nice. Once it's based it will be even more impressive.

You can't really tell from the pictures, but the reason why the white on the cloak looks thick is it actually has a white on white pattern.
