I am about to run a Dark Heresy game for my friends and I cannot figure out if you earn extra wounds as your advance your character.

So, could anyone help me out? As you gain XP and "level up" are you able to gain more wounds? If so, could you point a page number for me because I cannot find anything in the core rule book regarding this matter.

Thanks in advance!

Every time you purchase Sound Constitution from your advancement tree you get another wound.

Ah okay. Thanks for that. So is that really the only way to gain wounds officially?

For anyone that has a run a game of Dark Heresy would it break the system to award 1-5 wounds per level of tree advancement?

Yes and no.

When we first stated playing I made the error in thinking that Sound Constitution gave you D5 wounds. I thought that it'd suck to spend all that EXP and roll a 1. So I made it a flat +5 wounds. I then later realised it wasn't +1.

We have some characters on 30 or 40 wounds now. Now all the adversaries we fight have to have 30-40 wounds. Combat encounters take hours (even if they are fun).

So you can give them extra wounds each time they increase in Rank, but if you're giving them 5 wounds every time it happens... then they could become very powerful very quickly. The other option is to double the cost of Sound Constitution and make it +D5 wounds.

Thanks, that is helpful information.

I know my group will turn the game into a shooting gallery, so I don't want a TPK on account of glacial wound advancement.

I like the idea of expanding the Sound Constitution to D5. I might make that 250 XP to purchase.

Thanks again to both of you for assisting with my questions.
