Nice. I like them. Is that a servitor heavybolter arm that sternguard has?
One thing though is that it might look better if the vanguards powerswords were a lighter blue than their armour.

nope, but i got the idea from the servitors to do the heavy bolter like that. its a chaos heavy bolter, a ammo feed from a tl hb from a razorback kit, the piece under the bolter is the barrel of an ork shoota, the round bit on top is a drum mag from an ork shoota, lol, the piece between the shoulder and bolter is the engine piece of an ork chainsword, lol, backpack is plasticard.

also the vanguard's swords are "enchanted blue" and the armor is "cobalt' lol

I think he's referring to the power sword as being an ice blue or enchanted blue lightened with a bit of white (I guess I'd call it a baby blue or light blue). I agree the swords do look very similar to the armor, although that may be the camera.

These look nice. The second picture is a bit blurry, but the models look good. You did an especially good job with the purity seals on the Sternguard. White is often a tricky color, and yours look good. Are these generic tactical marines that you kitted out to look like vets, or were the models already different in some way?

the secret on those seals, is base it in plain white but leave it blotchy with streaks and brushstrokes in itm then go over it with bleached bone, makes it look like old parchment.

and yeah i'll go in and try to give the power swords a highlight or some kind of effect to emulate the field around the blade.

and yes they were plain tac marines i painted up and added tons of crap to.

Doesnt look to bad, the pics are a bit blurry so its hard for me to really tell. But what I can advise you to do, because it looks like you have a good idea of what you want done, just could see it executed better. Try either thining the paint a bit or use less paint on your brush, or keep your brush just a tiny bit wet. It well help get rid of the 'chunky' paint look and you could try to tidy up the highlights, make them thinner. Anyways man its good! Take your time and you will really see what you can do!

Nice conversion. So many bitz but it looks seamless.

Okay. The blues looked very similiar but it might be because of the photo.
