Games Workshop Scarborough Town Center has been doing a bout of Specialist Games, cycling through each one every two months. The months of June and July are Blood Bowl, a happy game that inspires fits of rage and incoherent ramblings as blocks (and dice, and glasses, and models, and whatever else we can get our hands on) are thrown willy nilly across the pitch.
My team is based on the Dallas Cowboyz, drawing upon a roster of All-Stars that have graced the ranks of the well-known team:
None other than Roger Staubach leads the team, filling in the role of Thrower at #12.
With the jobs of holding the line of scrimmage, tanking hits, and throwing blows, Rayfield Wright and Larry Allen perform as Black Orc Blockers, #70 and #77 respectively.
The stars of the team, the roles of Blitzers are filled by Dave Edwards, Chuck Howley, Lee Roy Jordan, and Thomas Henderson, #52, #54, #55 and #56.
Lending assists across the pitch are my Linemen: Larry Cole, George Andrie, Bob Lilly, and Jethro Pugh, #64, #66, #74, and #75.
Taking the place of Troll is Michael Irvin, #88, his presence dominating the line of scrimmage. Supporting him is his Goblin sidekick Mel Renfro, #20.
In addition to being All-Stars, the astute Dallas Cowboy fans will note that my Blitzers and Linemen are hand-picked from what formed the famous Dallas Cowboys "Doomsday Defense".
Dallas Cowboyz - 2011 Starting Lineup
#12 - Roger Staubach, Thrower
#70 - Rayfield Wright, Black Orc Blocker
#73 - Larry Allen, Black Orc Blocker
#52 - Dave Edwards, Blitzer
#54 - Chuck Howley, Blitzer
#55 - Lee Roy Jordan, Blitzer
#56 - Thomas Henderson, Blitzer
#64 - Larry Cole, Lineman
#66 - George Andrie, Lineman
#74 - Bob Lilly, Lineman
#75 - Jethro Pugh, Lineman
#88 - Michael Irvin, Troll
#20 - Mel Renfro, Goblin

Makes me wish I was in Toronto again so I could play some Specialist Games. The team looks great, but that goes without saying.

OMG I hate the cowboys so much, how I cringe at the sound of their name. If it wasn't for them the 49ers would have at least made 5 more super bowl appearances if not won them.
But it looks good...except for that disgusting cowboy star

Funny.... no current Cowboiz on the team? Are they really that sad this year?
Hopefully Your "Cowboyz" have a better season than the real ones......

Of all the races of the universe the Squats have the longest memories and the shortest tempers. They are uncouth, unpredictably violent, and frequently drunk. Overall, I'm glad they're on our side!

Haha I hate the cowboys and this is still just awesome! Great job all around, DV8! Are the band-aids on Michael Irvin just freehanded? They look really good and that was a great use of that Games Day mini.

That is the plan, once I start leveling up my players and getting enough with decent skills, I'll expand with another Thrower (#8 Troy Aikman) and 2 more Black Orcs (#77 Tyron Smith, #79 Erik Williams)

Who with the what-now? I will confess I care very little for Football, and know even less about it. The only experience I have with it is Blood Bowl, and the only reason I picked the Dallas Cowboys is because their team has one of the more aesthetically pleasing color schemes (I had also considered the Oakland Raiders (boring color scheme, the rulebook already has a pun on them, plus their logo would be an absolute nightmare to paint!), the San Diego Chargers (I hate that lightning bolt, but I'd play their disco theme song every time I score a TD), and the Pittsburgh Steelers (but that logo would be a pain to paint 32 times)).
As for DeMarcus Ware, I have no idea who he is (actually, I don't know who any of the players are on my team other than what Wikipedia has told me). I basically spent a week researching the team, and Googling up the all-time favorite Cowboys players rated by fans etc. and cross-referencing across about a dozen lists, picked my players based on their background, importance/relevance to their team, and the number (I needed to avoid duplicates).

Well again I was going more for "classic" All-Stars. I don't follow the sport as a whole so I have no idea who's on the current roster of the real team.
And actually this is my first time at the game, so I'm pretty bad at it. I'm very quickly picking up the feel of it, but there's a lot of tactical and positional nuances I'm still getting the hang of.

Yes those bandaids are free-handed on. It was a last-minute detail I hadn't planned on adding. My first thought was, he has big burly arms, he would look good with some scars and cuts. Then I figured, what's more awesome than scars? Bandaids. If I could paint a Scooby-Doo face on those things I would.

I was just thinking those band-aids needed Scooby Doo, or the Power Puff Girls. Those models rule, and I'm even more amused to see you don't really care about the Cowboys. That is by far the most detailed, well painted Blood Bowl army I've ever seen. Awesome work.

Painting isnt too bad but i think they would be better green... and with an eagle on it.. just a thought ya know since the eagle is THE american bird and well greens a good color you know. The armor is nicely weatherd skin is good its nice to see an ork that ist so green, although in this case with the armor it probiby should be green to balane the paleish skin. Still its actually really good.
