So, I finally figured out how I want to paint my lamenters army after doing quiet a few trials.

C&C if you would be so kind.

The eye is not exactly my best, there is a scratch on the model right where the eye is so it was hard to paint it in.

Nice, love the yellow, did you use sepia for the wash? Whats your method for painting it?

The proccess is pretty simple, first off it's iyandun darksun over a black undercoat, then devlan mud, then another layer of thinned iyanden darksun leaving the wased layer showing in the recesses and on flat edges. Next it was a layer of golden yellow, leaving a tiny gap showing the previous layer, then a 50/50 mix of golden and sunburst yellow, then pure sunburst yellow to finish off again leaving a slither of the previous layer showing around the edges.

Really nice - my only problem with it is that you have left the darker colour showing through on the upper surfaces of the armour - where the highlights should be - it looks a little odd. Id maybe do all the way up to the golden yellow where the highlights should be.

The yellow color is spot on. It looks rather thick, though, and has a bad texture. Fixing that will come with time.

I think its a good looking model. I bet when hes in a unit the slight problems with the painting will disappear.

This is a solid beginning.

However, please try basing with Scorched brown (or whichever brown is the foundation).

Highlight up to Bestial Brown.

Then begin your yellows.

I know this seems complex, but it will result in deeper yellows and will still allow you to use sepia or ogryn flesh washes before your final highlights.

Other than this, thinner, multiple layers will help. Just be sure to allow the paint to completely dry before applying the next layer. Some of your layers appear to have cracked and been worn away by painting over them too soon. However, if you are doing a squad/multiple models, there should be sufficient time between layers as you paint all models in sequence before returning to the first.

Hope to see improved results!

Looks really good. Yellow is a hard paint to do, so the fact that you did it nice and smoothly shows you did it well. Nice job.

I think you did a great job. I agree with the bad texture, but I've encountered that same problem myself. I am definitely going to take some of the advice on this thread.

I really like the contrast with the yellow, red and white. I think this is going to look awesome as an army.

Your paint looks a bit thick, but IMHO it actually adds to the 'grungy' look of the mini. Not to say he looks dirty, but battle-worn. Was this intentional?

Awesome mini either way. I personally wouldn't change a thing.

Yes actually, I've dirtied him up some more, put some scratches and chips on the armour. I've also done a few others, gonna finish the squad up and post pics.

The paint is a bit thick I admit it. I didn't plan it to look that way but I did like the look of it so I'm pleased.

I find that multiple thinner coats of paint works best. You then can alter the different layers for different effects.

You can look at my gallery to see what I've done. Ithou I'm still learning myself. I however haven't gotten to learning chips and scratches yet. But I have some veh. planned so I might try there,

Eager for the pic's!
