Hey All,

Recently a friend of mine posted some pictures he had of my army and he suggested that when i become a memeber that i post the pictures that i have of my army as they are a little more detailed. Please let me know what you think. I must be perfectly honest, i am super critical of my own painting, so i am always a little worried about how they look and he told me that the feedback was mostly positive, so i figured i would re=-post some pictures and see what the feedback is like and get some ideas on what i can do to make them look better.

ialso have posted all of the commend for the models below. the captions window on the forum has a charector limit and cut them off, so i posted them below. they follow the order of the models....

here is my trust ultramarine captain, had i realised that plasma pistols werent that good, i probably wouldnt have put one on him...lol....
the dreadnaught is kinda cool, you cant see it, but the storm bolter is modified to have a drum magazine instead of the ammo feed, and the barrell has been extended on the assault cannon. its a black reach dreadnaught origionally, and i admit i kind went
a buddy suggested i posted this pic. what you cant see is me and my relatively large self wearing a cobalt blue t-shirt with the ultramarines logo on it... i freely admit i am not right in the head, and a little bit of a fan boy. my ipad, iphone, ipods, macbook and media server all have that image as their background logo. my mustang GT has an ultramrine logo on the back glass about 6" big.
this is a tatical squad using one of the marine veterans GW released during the launch of 4th edition. that seargent model still to this day is one of my favorite models they have released and i want to do something really cool with another one, if i can paint well enough to do the models justice.
s0 dissappointed in this model...any hints and how to clean up his face? i CANNOT seem to get flesh tones right, and his banner is just..well...crappy...
another tatical squad. all of my tatical squads use veterans from the veterans blisters or box sets for their sergeants. i think they look cooler. i just wish i could paint them well enough to do the models justice.
my last painted tatical squad rightnow. this is also a black reach squad with a different seargent
funny thing, when i was painting the terminators, i realised more than halfway through the squad they were supposed to have white helmets. now i am just to scared to go back and paint them ALL white. dont really know what to do with them, so i am leaving them alone for now. my friends all say to just leave it, but i cant, my OCD just kicks in and i will probably rarely play them for that reason alone.
so, these vindicators, well, they have been around for a while, and thats why there are novels written all over the tanks. one of these days ill trash all of the tanks in the army and replace them with the much better looking 4th/5th ed models. the running joke is that the entire codex astartes is written on them. the funnies part is when i get my land raider to that stage, i am actually going to print, ledgibly, the entire fluff story of captain ideaus' last command on the side of it. seems like it would be really cool.
another vindicator. i actually have three of them because they were my favorite tank in the game. i just love the mental image of a huge shell blasting a bunker to peices and through the dark smoke and smoldering ruin the bright glassy red eyes and red bolters of the marines can be seen breaching the new fashioned entrance, quickly dispatching the occupants.

I like the army as a whole , but i would use less text (mainly on the vehicles as theres to much for my personal taste and it detracts from the solid colour scheme.

But nice army though, really nice blue.

Thank you all so far. i will eventually turn the old stuff into craters for the new models when i get around to buying them, i just dont really feel like dropping a couple of bills on models i already own. over time i will though...it will just take a little bit of time...

normally i don't like ultramarines, but yours look really great. i think the text looks good. one thing i would do, is to drill out the guns.

I just used the google images search function to find the image. Love the iPad, if only there was a decent army creation software for it.

As far as the mcdonalds plasma pistol goes, is there anything you can suggest I can try and I can strip or maybe paint over the existing paint on there now...

Someone else pointed out the rogue trader color scheme...that's really cool and I'm glad you recognized it...the first time I brought my army to a newer game store, most of the people said things like "that's a great new take on ultramarines" or "going with a successor chapter huh". I tried to explain that it's just old school, like rogue trader/2nd edition color scheme, but he no one believed.

To be fair that LGS has almost entirely newer people, ims ure some of the vets recognized if they were there.
