Hi guys. When I read the rules for infinity, what struck me was the huge amount of terrain you'd need to get a decent game. It's all about angles of fire, cover, etc. Would tile based play be better(easier) for set up, do you think? Or would it just create too many chokepoints?
I would like to get a smallish warband together I think but I'm not down with making fifty bajillion buildings.

Just use a load of boxes and books and GW paint pots etc.

If you have tonnes of tiles then it could be fun but I'd try and do both because otherwise you'll miss out on a lot of the cool stuff in Infinity - it is more 3dimensional than most wargames imo.

Aww, but half the appeal of infinity is the gorgeous models! Playing with them on crappy terrain would spoil it.

Good point though.

I have played infinity in tables that represent space corridors, it was pure fun, but the troops behave different.
In open ground, sniper are demi-gods and impetuous models are like dogs, born to die.

In space corridors sniper rifles are pointless and template weapons in the hand of those running impetuous troops are death incarnate!

So, does the space Hulk tiles work for Infinity. My answer would be YES, but only for a themed battle.
If I go to a tournament and one of 10 tables is the space corridors table, that will be fun, if all are space corridors that will be WRONG.

Take a look at the Infinity Missions Pack here:

That's an Infinity tournament that I recently ran where one of the five tables used Space Hulk tiles and some house rules.

It works well but is very different from a normal game.

In my experience it is a really cool thematic battle, but you do have the nudge the rules a little or things like mines, hackers, gml, etc get a little rough. It does however give some cool new options like locking doors.
