This is going to be a brief introduction as I don't have long, but I'm very excited about this project and I'm keen to throw this out there and get some feedback.

The basic premise is to detail the entirety of the 42nd millenium fluffwise in roughly the same detail as the 41st Millenium - that is, to have a timeline detailing all major events which have occured, and then a series of in-dpeth explorations of key events sort of similar to the IA books but on a larger scale. This would also involve profiling out some of the larger participants in more detail, for example, delving into the background of specific Space Marine chapters and IG recruiting worlds. It is a huge project, with likely a gargantuan amount of effort involved, but I'm willing to work on it over a long period. I love the fact that we have virtually no canon on what has gone on, so I'm going to have to make most of it up for myself.
Here are a few of the rough outlines i've sketched out - I'd love to get some feedback on whether you think this is the right direction.

- Increasing Necron activity galaxy-wide, culminating in two or possibly three very large conflicts showcasing as-yet unused necron 'supertech'
- Conclusion of 3rd war for Armageddon
- 1 minor, 1 VERY major Tyranid Hive Fleet incursion
- Substantial Tau expansion including potential assault on Ultramar
- One notable rebellion of imperial forces on a large scale - hopefully something a bit more interesting than 'x space marine chpater or imperial guard coaliton fell to chaos'
- Destruction of one Eldar Craftworld
- Possible Eldar participation in multiple significant events eg. Tau assault on Maccrage to recover artifact removed their by Calgar himself
- 2 very large Ork Waaaaghs incorporating new Orktech with considerable destructive potential, probable non-conclusion.
- CSM lay siege to one part of Commorragh, they are successful initially but driven off by cooperation from craftworlders in order to prevent access to some areas of the webway falling, even temporarily, into the hands of chaos. Relatively significant part of the webway sealed permenantly due to severe damage.
- Significant discovery technology-wsie by the Admech, possibly STC to some sort of ultralarge tracked vehicle. (It is my understanding that the Titans do not have STC templates, but other very large war machines such as the capitol imperialis do. Correct me if i'm wrong on this please.)
- Gargantuan Daemonic Incursion, Ordo Mallelus (sp?) on high alert and Grey Knights reinforced, V large imperial deployment succesfully drives off Daemons with MASSIVE losses including multiple chapter masters, most likely either two or three.
- 14th Black Crusade, Abbadon mortally wounded before achieving apotheosis but being banished by mass deployment of experimental technology. (Link above)
- Some as-yet unknown relatively significant involvement of other imperial factions, potential Ordo Xenos detailing.

That's just a teaser of things hopefully to come. I'm about to sleep, but when i wake I shall write up a very rough skeletal timeline and then I would appreciate it if people could rip it to pieces, I want this to be accurate but epic, and though i do own a fair amount of background material, there is plenty where I'm not so sharp.
One other note, I seem to remember there was one campaign within the past five years or so which told of a tomb world with some Tau psyker experiments on it or something and I believe that occured in the 42nd millenium,so I want to make sure i've got the detail of that nailed down before I begin. Input would be much appreiciated.

I seriously doubt that the Tau could launch a successful assault on Ultramar.

Why are you asking questions about yourself in the third person?

But yeah, I don't see Tau attacking Ultramar and living to talk about it.

Tau can't even reach Ultramar. They can't warp jump. And Sicarius was the one dealing with Tau, not Calgar.

Just to let you know, there WAS an STC for titans, but it got corrupted and was destroyed by the Grey Knights. Other than that, can't wait to see it, as I just wish that GW would continue the timeline.

In the 41st I agree, down the road, I see the Tau leveling the golden throne to the ground.

Space Marines hopelessly outgunned by XV-47 Crisis Warsuits, equipped with Cascade Plasma Assault Rifles and shoulder mounted 2 mile range Scorpion Ion Cannons.

"AM are bunch of half human-half robot monkeys who keep tech working by punching it with a wrench And their tech is so sophisticated that you could never get it wrapped it out" thing a LITTLE to seriously. It also goes "Tau tech is so awesome I wish I was Tau and not some stupid Human" thing.

If anyone launches an assault on the Smurf Planet, it's gonna have to be CSM or 'Nids.

How about a new Russ variant or "new" technology being melta/plas combo (like the hrud) on a Land Raider or Titan.

4th war for Armaggadon, this time nids inflitrate an ork rok and bring in more nids.

Matt Ward being assassinated.

I could go on but i stop here for now

This is my Leman Russ. There are many out there like it, but this one is mine. Without it, I am useless. Without me, it is useless.

I like the idea of nids comnig back to finish the job, they might win this time, as they would have collected some marine DNA

Nids and orks are already fighting, when Inquisitor Kryptman captured some genestealers and flung them into ork space to divert a tendril of hive fleet kraken(i think it was?), with both sides just getting bigger and bigger

I'd like to see eldar regroup and take a planet, then try and re expand, instead of floating around sulking about getting wooped by slaanesh.

New tech would be awesome! Although it would have to be marines that develop it, to appease the masses.

And tau will still be stuck babysitting kroot in a distant corner of the galaxy

Good luck with this, it's a worthy premise.

I'm going to move this to the fiction section, it fits better there IMO.

Ok, I apologise for the delay, I wrote this up and posted it yesterday but my internet seemed to be having a seizure or something because it didn't post properly. As you can imagine, I was pretty annoyed when i realised three hours of hard work was gone, but I'm going to write it up again now.
Firstly though, I want to address the issue of the Tau. I was aware while writing it that it was a long shot, and having thought about it a little more, it does seem a little ridiculous. Still, I've deliberately given every race at least one significant event, and I intend to find a slightly more realistic target.
Now, the rough timeline. Only the most inportant events are included, as they form the skeleton of the timeline. The reast of the events can be added to flesh things out.

008.M42 Hive Fleet Leviathan removed from imperial space. Finally Halted at Necromunda. 300 Deathwatch deployed.

013.M42: Conclusion of the Third War for Armageddon. Ghazghull returns with better teleportation technology, him and his bodyguard materialising inside Death Mire Hive and massacring dozens of Imperial citizens before slaughtering the garrison and using timed explosives to destroy one of the spires. Desperate, the Imperium bombards the hive with melta charges from orbit, wrecking swathes of the sturcture and killing millions of innocent civilians. The entire hive collapses in on itslef, and Ghazghull is presumed dead, but the Orks refuse to lose faith in their leader. A week later, a huge convoy of looted tanks and battlewagons clatters into the main Ork camp, the bruised and battered but verymuch alive warlord himself storming down the assault ramp to a crowd of cheering Orks. Their elation is short lived, however, as the Death Spectres chapter in it's entirety plunges into the Ork camp support by an large armoured assault from dozens of regiments of the Imperial Guard. Trapped and caught unprepared, the Orks are driven back toward their Roks. Ghazghull himself is badly wounded by Assault Cannon fire, and a squad of the Deathwatch mysteriously arrive and remove his flailing body. Leaderless, the Imperial forces, who are now joined by the rest of the Astartes deployed on Armageddon, drive the Orks back and wreck the Rok that served as a last rallying point. Their forces in tatters, the remainihng Orks are driven off Armageddon, though at a huge price.

072.M42: Hive Fleet Leviathan is finally eradicated, the Orks of the Octavian empire striking a Deathblow to the final ships with the heavily-armoured prows of their Kilkorozers.

113.M42: Halliban Campaign

178.M42: GFT-88 Incident - Admech discover 5 Stc templates on Artifact World, but are assailed by Necron forces. They fight a desperate rearguard, successfully removing three STC templates. the planet is subject to Exterminatus with two-stage cyclonic torpedoes.

234.M42: Fall of Tallarn - Necrons emerge on Tallarn. Hundreds of Pylons plague imperial armour, and the world eventually falls to the assailants. Hundred of citizens are harvested, and one evacuation ship destoryed as it tries to flee.

302.M42: Qioxis Rebellion - Titan legion rebels on newly liberated world after most of garrison are gone. God-machines stalk the streets massacring thousands, before escaping into the warp.

398.M42: Hive Fleet Griffon

464.M42: Howling Griffons lost in the warp.

518.M42: XVZ-118 Incident - Chaos Space Marines of the Iron Warriors Legion overwhelm the defeneces of XVZ-118, an Adeptus Mechanicus Storage World. Slaughtering the meagre garrison, they make off with thousands of pieces of invaluable mechanicus technology, including two dozen Deathstrike Missile Launchers, 300 Leman-Russ Chassis Vehicles, over a thousand Malcadors of various deisgns, 500 assorted super-heavies, 600 artillery pieces and almost 100 mechanicus relics. The first Imperial Forces to arrive find the facility booby-trapped with dozens of atomic charges, though they are able to establish the extent of the theft before thier demise. The explosions destory the rest of the technology left on the planet, primarily vehicles the Iron Warriors did not have room for in their holds, leaving it of zero value to the imperium.

520.M42: Siege of Commorragh - Two years later, the Iron Warriors launch a full assault on a previously unknown exodite world. Spearheaded with stolen technology, the invasion establishes a perimeter around a pair of long-dead webway gates. In a dark ritual, the gates are forced open, and the Iron Warriors pour into the webway, miraculously discovering a portion of the dark city, Commorragh, secreted away within. The Chaos forces immediately lay siege to the Eldar fortress, the inital ferocity of their attack razing great swathes of the city to the ground. The counter-attack is fierce, but for some time it seems as though the chaos forces will surely sieze victory, the sheer number of armoured vehicles ovewhelming the Dark Eldar anti-tank fire. As a Deathstrike missile smashes into the final strongpoint, the dark kin begin to retreat, knowing that the full firepower of the besieging forces can now be brought to bear upon them. However, craftworlders sent to aid the Exodites plough into the rear of the Iron Warriors forces via the Webway portals. Now trapped between two higly advanced forces, the Iron Warriors desperately detonate a pair of Vortex warheads, ripping a hole in the webway. Now presented with an escape route and with many of their prizes still intact, the Traitor Marines flee into the webway.

612.M42: 14th Black Crusade

756.M42: The Death of Varantha - Huge Ork fleet attack and destroy Varantha craftworld, with multiple ork ships coosing to ram the city-ship rather than deploy from orbit. Internal generators of the craftworld have their shielding destroyed, Craftworld itself obliterated.

888.M42: World Eaters Invade Ultramar

917.M42: Vulkos Incident - Serried Ranks of Necrons emerge on the Forge World of Accatran, immediately assailing the maufactories on its surface. Initially they are repulsed, but as more and more Necrons emerge, it becomes clear that the Necrons have been greatly underestimated by the imperium. Three titan legions deployed in full, dozens of space marine chapters, hundreds of armoured regiments of the Imperial Guard. Necrons held off only with the deployment of no less than four Emperor-class titans, the God machines obliterating great numbers of Necrons. Eventually, a battle company of Space Marines supported by a pair of Warhound Titans ventures deep within the tomb complex to lay explosive charges, and though they sustain heavy casualties they are successful. Upon their return, the charges detonate, collapsing the entire tomb complex.

964.M42: The Fall of Brimlock - The largest known Tau deployment successfully assaults the hive world of Brimlock, destroying an entire titan legion and bringing the planet into the Greater Good.

997.M42: Hive Fleet Medusa - The biggest Hive fleet ever known assaults the soutwest of the Galaxy. Massive imperial deployment on Hydraphur including entirety of Star Dragons, White Panthers and Hospittallers chapters deployed in full, elements form ninety-two other chapters present. seven titan legions, countless Imperial Guard regiments, and two Ordinatus are present to hold back the first waves of Tyranids. Medusa discorges unimaginable numbers of warriors onto the surface. Currently a stalemate.

999.M42: Waaaagh Morkamek - Ubermek Morkamek, the greatest Ork genius ever know, launches his WAAAGH. Even heavily fortified worlds fall in days, his obscene innovations allowing the Orks to overrun everywhere they ttack, Ork forces flock to his banner, and the projected course of his WAAAGH encompasses Holy Terra itself.

As you can see, they are all fleshed out to different extents, though most major events have around a paragraph. From this skeleton I'll fill in minor events to tie things together, and that's where you come in. I'd like suggestions for creative, plausible and epic relatively minor events, to be detailed with a paragraph or two in the final version of this work, hopefully some sort of ebook.

The next update will finish fleshing out these major events and possibly fill-in a couple of minor ones. If I get enough time, I'll also write up a planetary survey for XVZ-118.

Sorry for the slow reply guys, i'm currently on holiday so i'm having to use my phone. I went back over the timeline and discovered a ton of mistakes, plus some numbers I want to change, but that will have to wait. In the mean time, I'm writing an inventory for XVZ-118 plus an 'army list' for the entire Star Dragons chapter. Anyway, just an update.

Very short post, I've got back, but haven't had a chane to do much yet. Fingers crossed XVZ-118 inventory and planetary survey will be up within the next three days, but I have a fair bit of other stuff I need to do, and i must admitt, Minecraft is being very distracting lately. Anywho, I'll ake sure to check that link out, and hopefully next time I pst it'll be with an actual, genuine update.

You going to try expand on the Goul Stars at all? I always liked the goul stars.

A waaagh! actually manages to reach Terra? Really?

Ghazhgull and his bodyguard kill a few dozan Civilians

In retaliation the Imperium level an entire hive and kill millions of civilians. That'll teach him.

No, there is a fair chance that happens.

Anyways, you miss a thing that happens in 999.M42

999.M42 A huge smiley face called 'thenoobbomb' appears. It heads towards Holy Terra itself, posibly crushing it with its size.

If the Tau attack Ultramar, it is a safe bet that the Ultramarines will retaliate with a substantial force, more than likely bolstered by the MANY chapters created by their geneseed (Novamarines, sons of orar etc).

I doubt any chapter will commit itself fully, but such an attack will warant a mass attack by multiple chapters, probably total strength of 2 chapters, and then any imperial reinforcements.

The tau would know this, and it would be against their nature to commit to such a suicidal assault.
