Greetings,

I am new to WoTR myself, but our gaming group is extremely excited and we have a number of players line up at this point.

None for Isengard, however, but we can offer this for now:

Pick up and start assembling your core troops -- Urak Hai. I'd get enough boxes to make assembly line painting worth the effort (at least 2) and preferably in numbers divisible by 8. Remember, these troops only come in boxes of 20 I believe.

they are all around perfect fighting machines for the core of an evil army. as you develop your desired paint scheme, put them together, etc you can gather advice from various forums. In the mean time, the foundation of your army -- something you must generate anyway -- will be getting started.

have fun

With Uruk Hai, you want, as Shrapnelsmile has said, a solid core of Uruk Hai infantry. They come in boxes of 20, so to get 5 companies of each you need to get 4 boxes, which is perhaps a little steep. You can fill in ranks easy enough, though.
I'd recommend getting command for your units or converting it.
Once you've filled in the core, a lot of it is up to you. You can go for hard hitting units like Trolls and Berserkers, or fast units like Warg Riders, ranged with Crossbows, so on.
I'd recommend a selection of heroes, too- Saruman is good, but so is Lurtz.

If i may...to start with you really want at least one block of urukhai with shields, i mean 6 companies. This is your primary bunker unit. In all honesty i wouldnt bother with pikes, they arent that great, and with defence 5 they die very easily to shooting. Take both Saruman AND Lurtz, try fit Grima in if possible. Uruk Crossbows are awesome, especially if you ally the Betrayer in as well.
