So I have recently given up my 40k hobby after 8 years, I suppose I'm just tired of the rules being so dull. I have been looking for a new hobby and I have decided upon Infinity. After looking at the whole range I really like the look of Haqqislam, but yet have no idea of how they play. Could anyone give me an idea? I know their fluff, it seems to be all that I have found out about them so far.

Reznik: 50Pts
This is the judgement of the righteous!
Ummm.. this isn't really a helpful answer, but I'm in the same boat as you in terms of just taking up Haqqislam!
I bought the Hassassin Bahram sectoral starter pack, before reading any of the rules (on the basis that I loved the models, especially the Lasiq sniper!), having known the rules more now I think I might go for the standard army list.
I will let you know how I get on with them, they seem quite 'average' compared to most other lists, but then I think one of the things about Infinity is that there are less clear divides in terms of what your army can do. You can go for a larger group of line infantry, a drop troop army, more medium or heavy infantry or TAG lists with almost any force depending on your choice, with only small variations in terms of one faction being able to do an option better than another faction (Nomads being better at hacking control of the battlefield for instance).
So, it might be better to go with how you want the force to 'play', what models you like etc. and then to go from there.
They have access to powerful troops with the religious troop trait, making it so that they're less likely to run.
Most of their basic troops have more than one type of ranged weapons, 40k calls them combi-weapons, although both weapons can be fired an unlimited number of times (combi-rifles in Infinity are just rifles that get bonuses at short range). So they usually have a gun type for the right situation.
From a quick look over the lists, it seems all armies can do some form of all types of specialists armies, whether that's lots of heavyes, TAGs, remote heavy, jump troops, drop troops, etc... You'll just do it in slightly different ways. What matters most in Infinity seems to be how much you like particular models as much as what they do.
The only problem you'll find with using mainly drop troops is whatever Haqqislam happens to have as a weakness for their particular drop troops, what weapons are available to those troops, and the higher point costs. You'll also be vulnerable to enemies hacking your drops to send them in off course, or earlier than you want them to.
There's other troops that can infiltrate and be farther down the table to support the drop troops as well.
Since you are paying more for each drop troop, you may find yourself with less troops, meaning less orders. Even though the basic grunts like Gulam are cheap, your enemy can go hunt them down to deny you orders, and you'll find them not that great at protecting your Lt if the enemy has troops that can get down the table, since your Lt must deploy on the table at the start of the game.

Haqqislam have some great Heavy Infantry with a good selection of powerful weapons at relatively cheap cost.
The Haqqislam nation are the best doctors in the Infinity universe so you can choose alot of options to be doctors; For example their regular Ghulam infantry can be a doctor for 17 points per model if memory serves.
Doctors in Infinity are a necessity without one you'll be feeling every guy shot down. This coupled with a high WIP score means that you'll have a good chance of getting your lads back in the fight.
I was in the same boat as you - 9 years of GW hobby just got stale and Infinity was a breath of fresh air - I'm hooked.
Hey, guys, I´m cpy/pasting this from the official forums.
Hello and welcome.
I personally think that these videos are the best way to get into the game, even before reading the rulebook. Because they give you a slightly vision of how the game mechanics works.
These next three videos are about an specific “Camouflage” rule.
Also, a video about the “Impetuous” rule:
Smoke Grenades Video:
Also, link to the quickstart rules, the best way to begin progresively learning more and more the game mechanics. Quickstart Rules
Also, I´m going to put a link here to the DEVIL TEAM´S INFINITY ARMY 3.0 wich is a very useful army builder site. Also here is the INFINITY WIKI that is a wikipedia of the rules, very useful.
Have a nice day.

Interesting, I remember all those videos being dubbed in heavily accented English first. Did the beasts of war guys redo them, or just the later ones were done by them?

IIRC before Corvus Belli and BoW made the Infinity Week, CB uploaded the first videos dubbed in English by a Spanish guy. After the Infinity Week, Corvus Belli staff dub the Spanish versions and BoW guys dub English versions.
Seeing as the OP mentioned an interest in drop troops I'll mention that the Haqqislam drop troops - the Ragik - are excellent.
As they have Vogged they are able to take a wound while landing and still keep going to unload on their target. That makes them excellent for dropping in to assassinate a potential lieutenant.
They also can take a heavy machine gun - which allows you to drop up to 32" from your target and still get +3 to hit.
You can only take 2 of them in a general Haqqislam list but I've never wanted more. As you can spend as many of your orders on the one model as you want, IMO there would be no real gain in having 3 of them, as you wouldn't want to split your orders 3 ways and you don't get an order for a model until it's on the board - so no orders from drop troops until you drop them.
I play Haqqislam, Combined Armies and Nomads and love all three of them
