I love RPG but I find that it's hard to discover new game. there are so many!
So, it's a thread about that, tell us about one RPG you love and why?
I'll start:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dread: the first book of Pandemonium
Dread, is a modern RPG where the player are demon hunter. It's for a mature audience.
The Game is simple, rule wise (only 3 stats, no levels, simple skill system) but the rulebook is complete
(a large 280 page PDF) So it's not a tactical game, it is a "story driven" game. With action pack, explosive,
"jump thru the window with a gun in each hand" stories...
The best part, the game is now free ( http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product_info.php?products_id=60620 )
A complete review of the game ( http://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/14/14179.phtml )

One of my favorite RPG systems of all time, its all about over the top theatrical Swashbuckling Adventure. Think Eral Flynn meets the would of RPG.
Sadly the companie that created it doesnt see fit to continue printing the books needed.

My all-time favorite RPGs:
Deadlands (Wild West with horror and magic)
Heavy Gear (From DP9, whom I do work for)
Jovian Chronicles (Also DP9)
Delta Green (Lovecraftian Horror, but with a layer of government conspiracy lore added)
I'm also interested in:
Eclipse Phase (Posthuman society)
and many others...
I am a bit burned out on 'basic' fantasy, I think. I play in a D&D game, but that's got a long-running story to keep me interested. Basic fantasy has grown a bit stale.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.

I love In Nomine by Steve Jackson games.
Horrible artwork, amazing flavour.
Angels and Demons fight (or perhaps co-operate) to sway humanity towards good or evil. Also along for the ride are human soldiers and the remnants of ancient gods and new ideas.
Extremely flexible system, really easy and intuitive, really good setting (some of the best I've read), philosophically interesting at times, and lends itself to both cerebral and action packed game play.
I've played in 4 campaigns, run one, and done several LARPS and once offs in the setting, and it remains my favourite overall.

Werewolf the Apocalypse by White Wolf.
Often overlooked at the time due to a strange idea that the game was about eco super-hero Werewolves and nothing else. Where as anyone who spent more than five minutes reading the background and the themes behind the game, found a dark world, where tribal tensions and a surrounding overbearing darkness was choking the hope out of the Garou Nation. Its a dark world, but it takes the Werewolf myth and throws it on its head, and in my view is potentially one of the best RPG's to come out in the last 20yrs.
It could be as political and backstabbing as Vampire the Masquerade, has as much Social interaction, if not potentially more. It put you against a villian you had no chance of actually beating, but you would do as much damage as you could possibly muster, before kicking and screaming into Oblivion at the end.
Personal horror, tradegy, the loss of one's self, and the fading hope of saving the earth as it stands. Anger, building rage and the destruction of your enemies, perhaps even your loved ones if you lost your grip at the wrong time, and the potential for epic long running stories, if you lived long enough.
I've been running WtA since mid 1993, have introduced in the region of fifty players to the game over that time, most of which have remained Roleplayers and as far as I am aware enjoyed the game, and have told me they consider it one of the best Horror themed RPG's released.
My two core groups, (six people strong, with only two player found in both) both ran for around four to five years each, both had other people come in and out, and enjoy their experiences as well, I have a lot of good memories of playing WtA with friends over the years. I was also fortunate to often have at least four players, so the game always carried the 'pack' feel that really helped it shine.
Although it 'ended' in 2003, the good news is White Wolf have announced W20 for next year, which will be a twenty year anniversary book, bringing tribe books and the main book up to date in one massive volume. I can't wait.

Going on what they did with V20 (Vampire the Masquerade 20th edition) this year, I would expect a pre-order period for W20 around June/July next year, and the book will come out around the time of the Grand Masquerade in late September. My V20 should be getting shipped the first week of October.

Well I guess that means I will have to pre-order now to get my hands on a copy before I go back to school.
I guess I will have to play with the old book for a while then.

Aye, I'm doing the same. Although I'll knock up a W20 thread next year as soon as the pre-order window opens, there are a couple more folks who have hinted that they'd be interested in it as well.

I just picked up the Mouse Guard RPG boxed set recently, I haven't gotten a chance to read through the rule book and throw a game together yet though...
What did you think of the system?

You've made me discover a very nice world. I just finished reading 2 mouse guard comic book. Is the game good? The RPG rulebook looks good, but what about the game system?

It's a extremely simple. Everything is pretty much roll Xd6, where X is the proper skill or stat for the situation 4+ is a success, you need N successes depending on how hard the challenge is. It's very cohesive and and easy. Character creation is straightforward and "bakes in" RP elements, even your stats are tied to them pretty tightly. The system isn't very robust but it doesn't have to be, it has a narrow focus.
The play is also very structured which helps keep the focus, but might leave players used to a more free-wheeling type of game feeling constrained.

From your description the game sounds like alot of fun, the boxed set is very nicely made and well worth the price if anyone is looking to pick it up.
Hopefully I'll get some time this weekend to crack it open.
Just to throw out another game I enjoy immensily...
Call of Cthulhu... An old timey Investigator versus the mythos game alothough they are adding both older and more modern settings to the game. This game is very heavy on roleplaying and very light on combat, if your players do anything but run away they've more then likely done something wrong.

That was a very fun game/system. My big problem with it, and the reason 7th Sea went down, is 'cause they updated the world/metaplot/timeline with every book. Total pain in the ass to use, IMO.
My contribution is Adventure!. Despite what that link says, its not d20/3e. Its a derivation of the White Wolf storyteller system, but set up for PULP AWESOMENESS!

But it's "Thank you for the ordnance" when the Guard begins to play,
O it's "LOOK AT ALL THE ORDNANCE!" when the Guard begins to play.."
