New guy here.
Not only new to Orcs, but to 40K in general, though I have been playing Mordheim and Necromunda off and on for 5 or 6 years.

Would love some pointers and ideas. I'm starting with the orcs from Assault on Black Reach, but I also have a bunch of 2nd ed Boyz and Grots.

Looking forward to diving in.

HI there. Best advice is to paint in batches of no more than 5 orks at a time. Work on same body parts on all models.

To speed up time and help with shading. Use a light green for visible skin and apply a few washes of thrakka green. Its a very quick way of shading and applying shadows to green skin.

Also dont be afraid of trying out different color schemes with orks, they are individual in looks and it doesnt matter if they look different.

Thanks! My figs will be here tomorrow so I'll be base coating then. I think white is the basecoat to use and make the green pop, but I could be wrong...What do you think?

White primer is unforgiving in the extreme, as one missed spot will be readily visible from far away. Good luck painting and welcome to Dakka!

Welcome to Dakka! And as a person who has painted ALOT of orks (around 3000pts worth) I HIGHLY suggest cheap black primer! And for a nice green skin tone I actually like a simple Catachan Green basecoat with a nice Snot Green overcoat, which gives you a green that 'pops' as you will, and is very orky. But hope you have lots of fun with your orkz!
