hey, totally new to lotr and was wondering how big are your warbands normally? Is it something like Inquisitor where you have 4/5 guys or is it more like a small point game of 40k?
Thanks

Do you mean for WOTR or SBG? In WOTR the companies are 8 men each but in SBG there is no warband size. If you want one ork with a 2 handed weapon on his own you can do that

yea meant WOTR thanks, do you use the 28mm scale models or the larger 54mm? Also are you limited in any way to what you can take on each character or is it more like the inquisitor game?
Thanks

War of the Ring uses the normal 28mm LotR miniatures on movement trays, in terms of scale it's rather more like a large game of Warhammer Fantasy.
The skirmish game generally has as many guys on a side as a small-points 40k game, though.

Sorry I keep getting mixed up between lotr and wotr lol
The one I am interested in here is the one where it is a small skirmish apposed to the larger game which is very like 40k/fantasy.
Was just wondering what the typical game size was and are you constricted in the same way as you are in 40k, with points/what equipment they can take, or it a lotr/wotr take on inquisitor where you're pretty much free to equip men and their abilities what ever way you like?
Thanks and sorry about the confusion :S

you want LoTR SBG.
Numbers of dudes varies as its based on points costs, but you can have super low points as every guy is purchased individually.
500 points is a nice medium sized game. If you run a list of mordor orks you can easily get 50 models on the table. Good will run between 20-30 models in that same size. both assuming you don't load up on heros(You can take just Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, and Boromir in a 500 point game. yes, this is actually quite QUITE powerful)
It varies between the race you play, equipment you take, and the points level.
For evil, the cheap end of the spectrum is Goblins, where you will, almost, always be outnumbering your enemy(4 pts per model naked, which you will never run) and then you have Uruk-hai/Black Numenorians where you may actually be the one outnumbered.
for good, the cheapest end is Hobbits. Hobbits are even cheaper then Goblins. The high end would be Galadrim elves or Dwarves where you will definitly be outnumbered.
