Hails to all that read this. I've been around Dakka for quite a while now but wanted to celebrate my 1,000th post by re-introducing myself as a new DCM.

I joined Dakka in March of 2010 but didn't really start posting or trying to be involved in the community here until November. Since then I've shared almost everything I've been doing on the modeling side of things and in sharing my work I have found an immense amount of inspiration from other people with similar goals / interests. Getting feedback (positive or otherwise) is an incredible motivator, and I've been more productive and focused in the last year than I ever had been before.

The people I've met here have been supportive and very cool to know. I've developed some genuine friendships even though IRL we are separated by hundreds (even thousands) of miles. Borders dissolve quickly and distance become irrelevant when discussing GS techniques or what materials to use when building a hasty defensive position.

Dakka has provided me a place to share my work (900+ pics uploaded as I write this) and also enjoy the work of other people. I genuinely enjoy surfing the Gallery and try to offer positive feedback (even when it is "criticism") as much as possible. I've improved my skills by seeing what other people have done, and overall this has been an excellent experience.

The decision to become a DCM was an easy one. I know it doesn't make a difference in the overall "big picture" of Dakka maintenance and management, but in my opinion it is a pretty awesome way of giving a little bit back and saying thanks for everything that happens behind the scenes.

So directly, THANKS DAKKA!!! I'm looking forward to more many more years and awesomeness.

- Skalk

That's a cool idea, did you shout yourself the DCM payment as a welcome to 1000 posts present?

Yes. I was going to do it on my Dakka 'anniversary' but I was coming up on my 1,000th post and decided that would be a cool benchmark.

Your story pretty much matches mine exactly except I've been here much longer and am a mod rather than a DCM.

Thanks for stepping up to the DCM plate.

Thanks for having a plate to step up to. I've been to the other sites. Dakka is where I hang my hat and call home.

Welcome and well played, well played indeed.

Every contribution helps to make Dakka better. I'm a big fan of the gallery too.

You beat me to a thousand posts; I must be the posting tortoise of Dakka.
