I'm also on the official forums.
The community there is always willing to help, they answer rules questions and that kind of stuff.
It is the people from that forum who created the army building software for Infinity.

There is an attitude that not having an insanely optimized, one shot, six stage, omnidirectional, inevitable, mousetrap of an assassin list army somehow means that you have foolishly wasted your life building 500 points of pure, 24 karat, hand rolled, fine, cuban fail. That attitude has been shown, under laboratory conditions, to cause cancer of the fun gland.

I'm on there too, under the same name. And yes, that board is rad, and refreshing after dealing with some of the more shrill elements of the 40K blogosphere.
One really, really big difference about the Infinity forums is that they are pretty seriously anti-listhammer (listfinity?). It's partially a correct stance because the game is balanced enough that most builds are viable. And it's partially a reaction against Stelek-style theoryhammer. They repeat the mantra "It's not your list, it's you."
Takes a bit of getting used to the shift- kinda hard to get constructive criticism on lists, unless you ask very specific questions (like "would this list work for a defensive strategy, or do I need more mines?").

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

That's a feature of the Warmachine forums as well, it stems from the slightly frantic insistence that the game is "perfectly balanced" and that "good" players can make any list work. On the Warmachine forums this is then paired with every list being virtually the same as everyone tells you which units/models are complete garbage and should never be taken by a sane human.
I think the international flavour keeps the Infinity forums on a pretty even keel.

This problem doesn't stem so much from the fact that Infinity is anti-netlisting or people don't want to help you build a good list, but rather that Infinity is vastly dependent on tactics. There are the serious flaws to look for like lack of orders, protection against smoke tactics, camo, and TAGs, however once all those ground are covered someone really can't say list X is better then Y. What ist "good" or not depends too heavy on situations, terrain, and positioning.
that's why I typically tell people to play the list several times and you'll "feel" the tweaks you need to make, and then hit up the forums for advice once you hit an enemy tactic that seems to be giving you trouble. GML, Antipodes, Impersonators, smoke/msv2+, hackers, HMG AD, TO HI, TO TAGs, are jsut a list of a few things that throw new players for an absolute loop the first couple times they play them. Hell half the time you'll see posts saying one of those things is broke as hell lol.
