Been Around the Block
|
Hello, I created this "blog" to show what I do in hope to get comments and constructive criticism on my work. I don't have anyone to share my hobby with, so I hope I can find someone out here on Dakkadakka that would be interested to follow my progress. I should also mention that I paint to display and not play.
Starting up with my Warriors of Chaos army, I have started undercoating my models in Reaper Paint Bloodstain Red. I have gone a step further on four of my models to find the right color for my boots, gloves and belts. I had to continue on, so I finished the armor plates, the fur and the cloak. I'm pretty happy with what I have accomplished so far!
I'm still figuring out the right amount of dilution for my paints and how sudden (Can I call it that?) my highlights want to be. So far the worst part imho, is the cloak.
Enough ramble, here are some pictures
Hope to post more the upcoming days...

I really like the dusky red on the armor in this, it looks great. They look very natural as well with the fur and leather. Look forward to seeing some more.

The boots really stand out maybe consider washing them with some devlan mud unless that's what your going for then good job.

First of all, thanks a lot!
My first thought for the boots was doing Scorched brown as a basecolor with codex gray mixed in to highlight. Although I feared that the model as a whole would be too dark, but I'm quit happy on how they turned out, just need to blend them a bit better next time : )

I *was* very much the same, in terms of painting to display, not play, however recently been converted into building an army due to reading a Horus Heresy novel..
Just wanna say, really like what you're doing here, and if the worst thing on that model is the cloak as you say, well then that speaks volumes, because I think the cloak looks great!
I second the potential Devlan Mud wash on the boots, give it a crack and see how you like it.
Hope to see some more stuff from you soon.
Edit: Another suggestion, maybe an extra (very tiny) highlight layer on the fur, of bleached bone, could maybe make it pop that extra bit more..

Jbrehaut - Thank you. I am considering the devalin mud on the boots, I also thought about using pigments to dust them up? Maybe that could work aswell, or even both I agree with the highlight on the fur, and I also plan to have some different color furs in the army.
First test model done, planning to paint the red armor on all my 24 warriors this weekend. Using the same proccess on the Exalted hero of Khorne. (Thanks for looking into my page!)
