Hey all,
I started playing/collecting Warhammer 40k in about 2008, although I have been modeling/painting (mostly modeling, very very light on painting) since about 1992. I started reading the novels in 2005. I didn't even know the game existed until I looked in the back of Brothers of the Snake, and realized that it wasn't just one guy making everything up. The next week, I bought Assault on Black Reach, and that weekend built and painted all of the models, had a couple of friends over who had played before, and had a three way brawl. Since then I have played about four games, expanded my ork and SM armies, and am showing no signs of slowing down, much to my wife's dismay. I just recently decided that I should really try to collect models that may actually one day help me field a worthwhile army.....
Questions will surely be forthcoming, as I have very little idea how to play, what counts as legal, etc. And yes, I am aware that they will reveal me as a total n00b. Don't be shy about saying it. I'm just glad there are people out there who know what they're doing.....

Welcome to Dakka! Don't worry about asking n00b questions, the BRB is pretty vague in a lot of areas. You'll more likely get grief if you ask a question that has been asked and answered a hundred times. use the "search" option in the 40K You Make Da Call forum, lots of Q&A already addressed there.
